Jen's POV
My heart shattered into a million pieces when I saw the person behind that hood. It was worse than when I found out that Grant was somehow involved in the mess that had become my life. I had trusted this person since I could remember and when I saw Mel's tears shining in her eyes and running down her face I only felt angry. She had no right to those tears. After everything that she had put me through she had no right to be crying.
"Jen...I..." she started, with gaps in between for her inconsolable tears, but I cut her off.
"Shut. Up." I said calmly and then not able to control myself, "SHUT! UP!"
Nina all the while was standing behind my friends smiling an evil smile. Her eyes had darkened from a light brown to a brown so dark they looked black. I just shook my head no longer feeling the need to cry. All I wanted in the whole world to do was throw something at all of them. They had all caused me some kind of immeasurable pain, and not just from the horrible things they did to my family. They had all more than surely known what they were getting into before they did it and chose to do so willingly.
"Why?" Was all I could muster up to say and when no one answered except for the loud sobs from Mel, I asked again more ferociously, "WHY?! You all knew what you were doing! you were all there for me after Liz was murdered! And you all acted like nothing was wrong. But you all," I said waving my finger at them, "you all were the ones who killed her. You all were the ones who murdered my young sister in cold blood!"
"Oh dear, no need to get all worked up. In fact I have a gift for you. Sara, go get little Miss Jen her gift." Sara obeyed immediately and was back trailing two chairs behind her through the wide door to my room. Strapped in one chair was my dad. I had never seen him look so tired and beaten. He looked as if he could give out at any moment.
"Daddy?" I croaked out in disbelief before tears welled up in my eyes. I never wanted to see him like this.
Then I looked to the other chair and in it my mother was strapped in laying limp against the cold metal. I stifled a scream of utter disbelief and at the small sound my dad twitched and said, "Jen..." Before he trailed off.
I couldn't look any longer and turned away from the harsh sight of my parents half dead bodies. I tried to find some pang of guilt or sadness in Grant's eyes but all he did was smile. And when he saw me looking at him pride at his "accomplishments" shone deep in his eyes and the way he stuck his head a little higher in the air before he looked to Nina for further instruction.
"Might as well save the girl from more discomfort. Take them out Sara." And Sara obeyed without question once again.
"You see Jennifer? I have complete control over your entire life. There is nothing that can stop me and nothing that would ever convince me to stop. Plus, I'm to far into this anyways. Not that I mind. You might as we'll stop fighting me and give in." As she was saying this she made her way over to my bedside and stroked my matted hair.
I looked her straight in her dark eyes and spit on her. "There is NOTHING you can do to make me EVER go along with your sick plans."
"Oh how I had wished that we could do this the easy way." She said as she wiped my saliva off her face. "But now I know I can't trust you so we're forced to do it the hard way." She looked at Grant and Sara and flicked her arm towards me before leaving the room with Mel close behind her still crying.
Ashton's POV
"Shit!" I cussed out loud. "SHIT!" I yelled louder this time. I had screwed everything up. I had no idea where to even begin looking for Nina and her band of evil henchmen. I paced back and forth unable to stop moving. "Shit!" I yelled again.
"What am I gonna do now?" I asked myself. I sat down on the floor and put my head in my hands. I had let Jen down again. And I didn't know if I had any chance of redeeming myself.
