We stared out at the crowds of people running over the hills of Genius Grove.

"This is...insane." Luke said.

"You said it." I replied. It was almost barbaric, how some people were acting. Some were physically knocking each other away to get to a Fusion. I turned to look at the blocked off area around Mandark's House. There were more people jumping and running along moving platforms to reach a small red flag at the topmost spire. I shook my head as I watch someone push another off a platform. They fell down and nearly landed in the lake of Fusion Matter below, barely grabbing onto another.

"People are animals." Luke sighed. Others nodded.

"I'm starting to reconsider..." Jackson muttered.

"Well, we already took the mission." I said. "We should finish it."

"Yeah..."

I leaped down from the slowly moving slider onto a leaning electric tower. I swung hand over hand down the large cable to the ground. The others followed suit. When we all were back on the ground, I gestured everyone into a circle.

"Alright. Here's the plan. We wait for all this..." I gestured to the chaos around us, "to die down and the Fusions to re-form. Then, it's hunting season my friends."

People nodded and laughed in anticipation. "Remember, we gotta help each other, not try to be the first, or get the glory, or whatever. If we try to take each other down for ourselves, then we all  fall."

Consenting murmurs sounded. I nodded. And we sat back to wait.

It took a lot longer than expected. The sun was setting when the crowds of people finally started dispersing. Our group watched as lamentations began. We could see bodies strewn throughout the area, some maimed, other pinned high in trees. Some there were only parts of. It was worse around Mandark's House. We could hear the cries of those who had fell into the pits of Matter, and slowly melted and burned in complete agony.

I heard a soft moaning and turned to see Alexis covering her ears. I walked over and put a hand on her shoulder. "Hey, you alright?"

"N-no...The screams...It's too much." She whimpered. "Why does this have to happen?" She looked at me with tears in her eyes.

I was silent for a moment. "I...I don't know. But it has happened, and we're here now. All we can do now is defend ourselves, and each other, and help wherever we can. Alright?"

She nodded shakily. A loud scream echoed across the clearing and Alex drew her legs up and shook again.

"...You sing, right?"

She looked at me. "Y-yeah..."

"Why don't you sing something for us? Something soft, comforting." I said with a smile. She was silent for a few minutes, then began to sing. Quietly at first, none of us could hear her. But she gained in strength, singing a lullaby.

We were all lost in the song. I must admit, tears came to my eyes thinking of days long past...

Jackson, Chris, Luke, Daniel, and I sitting around a table, yelling at each other and laughing over stupid things in our Monsters and Mazes game. Something rediculous had come up, and logic fought Maze-master, Jackson, at the time. He normally played the Maze-master. He was always so creative with the plot lines and intricate plannings.

Sherylann, Jacob, Ali and I sat on a lunch table, joking about how hard school was. Making fun, teasing, insulting each other. Exchanging internet videos. Ah...good times.
