"What...is that?" Jacob asked.
"I have no idea." I called back.
"Don Doom!" Chris shouted and began to cackle.
Numbuh Two looked at me, confused. "What is wrong with him?"
I grinned. "He...really likes naming the Fusions. Like he said. Apparently, that's what he just named...that thing."
Two shook his head. "It makes no sense."
"Ask him and he'll explain with crazy-yet-makes-sense logic." I replied with a laugh. I stood, unsheathing my Practice and Lightning Swords, activating the latter, making it hum with energy. I twirled them in magnificent (and slightly show-offy, I'll admit) circles about my body. Someone gasped, probably thinking I'd hit myself or someone else. But I didn't of course. I'd practiced with swords for most of my life! Hah. As if I'd hit someone on accident. If I had, I'd be a poor excuse for a swordsman.
I raised my weapons over my head, and my squad got to their feet, raising their own and cheering. I turned and began to run towards the end of the floating island, my feet sliding on the new grass. I leaped from the land, and landed on the massive chain. My feet flew over the metal and back onto Earth.
I saw my friends leap down beside me. I turned and looked into each one's face. Into their eyes. I read their expressions, and their thoughts.
They were determined. Ready. Afraid. I saw Alex shaking a little. I addressed her softly. "Fear is good. It shows you're human. It holds you back from being cocky. If you weren't afraid, you'd throw yourself at the enemy, regardless how weak or strong they were. And do you know what would happen?"
She saw my message. "I would d-die." I placed a hand on her shoulder and looked down at her. "You'll be okay, alright? Don't get too close to especially dangerous parts of the monster, and you'll be fine. We'll save you if you get into to much danger. Okay?" Alexis nodded, closed her eyes and breathed. She opened them and looked at me, a new light in her eyes. I nodded back.
I turned around towards the massive monster, Don Doom, as Chris dubbed it, as it lumbered closer. I analyzed it.
It seemed to be made of rock. Four long legs reached higher than the Slider tracks. They reached to the sky, then back down, meeting at the body. The body looked like a large chunk of land, covered in grass and a couple orange, fall-colored pine trees. The bottom glowed red, hunks of magma rock protruding from the bottom. It dripped lava with every step, burning holes in the asphalt below it. There was no head, no eyes. From the front, instead, grew two massive arms that zigged down, then up, then down again, reaching the ground and ending in massive, long claws that occasionally snipped a Gravel Golem or other Fusion in it's way.
"Crap..." breathed Jacob behind me. I looked at him. "It'll be alright man. Just keep far away with that cannon of yours. You'll be fine." His...rather bulky form I know wouldn't help him much in moving out of the way quickly if he tried to get in close with his hammer.
I started walking towards the giant beast, slowly moving into a job, then breaking into a run, shouting a battle cry as we got closer to contact. Other teenage soldiers had joined behind out charge. I glanced around the street, analyzing the situation.
There! I heard the Brit say in my head. There my boy! The trash bin!
I saw the silver can and nodded. I veered toward it and leaped on it. From there I jumped onto a window sill and then onto the house's roof. I backed up as Don Doom came closer...closer... NOW! I shouted mentally I threw myself forward as fast as my legs could go, my tie coming loose from the tight vest. I leaped from the edge and flew towards the front leg. I heard an earth-shaking roar emerge from the beast, somehow. I plunged both swords deep into the rock hide, and Fusion Matter mixed with molten lava leaved out from cracks that formed. I ripped my swords free and fell for a second and plunged them deep again. Above me, I saw the Fusion lava spray from the wound and grinned as I heard Don Doom moan. I repeated pulling out, falling, and stabbing the swords back in, until I reached the ground. I backed up quickly as the leg dragged across the ground as the monster moved forward, although it no longer lifted and fell, which I took as a good sign. "Careful of the lava and Fusion Matter!" I screamed to everyone around me.
