Grace was rubbing down Van's arm while I observed the patient with her eyes shut trying not to scream when Grace pressed a little too hard on her rising bruises. She opened them once Grace turned away and let out a sigh.

"Why are you staring at me?" She asked without looking me in the eye.

"Why can't you strangely remember what you came here and attacked me for? There are some questions the world just doesn't have the answer to." I shot back at her.

"It's not like I don't want to remember. I can't. And I think you can answer that question as to why I can't seem to recall what I'm doing here."

"Shots fired." Grace mumbled under her breath while she was still going through the kit.

"I said I was sorry, but I'm just trying to get some answers here. And why are you being so rude to me? You come to our penthouse, attack me, and I still let you get help from my owner, I mean Grace." I asked slipping on the last part about Grace. I guess with Van around, I'm so used to talking shit about our current/past owners that I thought Grace was amongst one of them.

Upon hearing that last part, Grace turned from looking down at the counter and walked towards me. I gulped a little when she moved her face a bit too close to mine and caught me off guard when a big smack came to the side of my head. My hand instinctively shot to the struck surface and started rubbing.

"Ouch! I'm sorry." I apologized to her.

"Don't call me that, dumbass." She said and made her way back to the counter.

"It slipped." I mumbled.

"It shouldn't have." She replied, although it was only meant for me to hear.

"How are you going to say that she isn't your owner when she literally just bossed you around?" Van asked from her spot on the marble island.

"She doesn't like for me to call her that. She wants people to be equal." I defended for her.

"Then why did she buy you?" Van asked looking between the both of us. Grace looked at me for the answer but I didn't know either so I decided to play it off.

"You think no one would want me for my devilish good looks? We beg to differ." I joked causing Grace to roll her eyes and move back to Van. She started to unroll an arm wrap and entangle it to her limb.

"Shut the fuck up, Hannah. She's lying." Grace told Van while cutting the extra bandage off.

"You still haven't answered my question." Van told her.

"You haven't answered mine." I cut in before she starts to make Grace feel uncomfortable, although I don't even know if she had a reason to be.

"Fine. Fair enough." She sighed. All of the sudden a low, deep rumble came from Van. She looked up with a red tint to her cheeks. "Umm, I haven't eaten in awhile." She told us truthfully. Grace let out a laugh and taped the wrap up.

"I know we just went out to get coffee, Han, but I am kinda hungry. Hopefully the waiter won't try anything with me this time." She said.

"Yeah, that's fine. But will I ever seek your Dr. Dennis expertise on me?" I joked.

"I won't if you keep it up with those damn jokes." Grace said pointing to me with a bandage. I put my hands up in defense with a smirk on my face that I know will annoy her.

"Fine. No more. I just need you to fix me up." She cautiously made her way towards me and got out the alcohol pads. She wet a rag and started to dab on my arm where the nail marks were.

"I strongly suggest you get a manicure, because these will now be scars, damn it." I said to Van without looking at her.

"No. I keep them that sharp for a reason." She told me with pride.

"Oh, so you remember your reasoning behind your deadly claws but not why you came here." I dramatically sniffed the air around me and towards her. "I smell bullshit."

"Well excuse me, but may be if someone hadn't head butted me to the wooden floor, I would remember." She said accusingly.

"How do you remember me head butting you?" Van's eyes grew wide and she jumped off the counter. I followed her and she made her way to the door trying to escape. The door was open just a crack before I slammed it in her face and pinned her to the wall forcing her to look at me.

"I know who you are, Van, and if you don't tell me why you came looking for me just now after so many fucking years, I will beat you again until you do. Now tell me!" I shouted in her face.

"Because you left me!" She yelled back. My demeanor quickly changed to one of confusion. I released her and folded my arms across my chest.

"Yeah, I left you. I had to. I thought you were dead. You think I would ever leave you if I believed there was even a chance of you still being alive? I tried to take my own life moments after I realized you were gone! Because that's how far I would've taken it if I was away from you and I had to live with it. I loved you and I still fucking do. I still dream about you, about when we first kissed, when I played the piano for you, when I took a whipping for you, when we were chased by wolves, when you fucking died in my arms. Those moments with you I could never forget. How could you think that I would ever leave you on purpose?"

By the end of my long rant, Van had tears in her eyes. I opened them up and she buried herself into me when I realized that we have both been waiting for this for so many years. Her tears leaked into my shirt but I couldn't cry, all I could do was smile my ass off; yet still carrying so many questions for her. Out of the corner of my eye, I could see Grace move towards us and wrap us both in her arms.

"I know this is a serious moment but group hug!" She yelled and Van's tears were quickly wiped away and a smile spread on her face.

"God, I missed you, Hannah." She said looking into my dark eyes and mine staring into her light, chocolate ones.

"I missed you more." I told her with so much honesty, it hurt. Once again, a rumble came from Van's stomach reminding us that she was starving.

"Yeah, we should head out to eat. Get some jackets, kids." Grace told us as we all departed. I went and picked up Van's over coat and handed it to her.

"I've always knows you weren't very into colorful things but maybe you should get a brighter coat." I joked with her.

"Yeah, you're right. Don't worry I'll answer all the questions you have for me later. Right now I need to eat. Please forgive me for thinking that about you." She said with pleading eyes.

"Yep, there's the Van I know. No matter how important something is; food always comes first. I'll forgive you once we talk though." I told her.

"That's fine. I understand." She told me.

"Let's go, children." Grace said as she held the door for us and locked it behind as we left.
