Josh's pov                {Monday}

I trudged my feet along the sidewalk, my hand down by my side holding my fingertips out as I ran them along the metal fence that boarder the school.

"Oh josh, hey man." Tom's friendly voice greeted as his footsteps caught up to me as he tried to walk by my side.

"Eh." Was the noise I made in reply.

"You know I almost didn't recognise you with your hair all red now. Looks good." He complimented with both his hands holding his backpack straps as if he was a tiny explorer.

"Thanks." I replied as I smoothed my bright red semi curled hair to the side.

"Oo there it is," he said as he pointed to my lips where I had stitches "heard all about it." He nodded.

"Heard what about it?" I asked.

"That Jason punched you so you punched him back and kneed him in his privates." He shrugged. "I wish I had been there to see that. But I did see the janitor cleaning up his puke."

"He threw up?" I asked feeling a spark of amusement.

"Yeah man, you must've kneed him pretty hard. Everyone said he looked super sick and in pain and then he just chucked up everywhere." He shivered slightly as he cringed.

"Ew." I sniffed.

"Yeah he had to go home after that." He told me "At least your injury looks cool though. But you know he's probably going to kill you after that. So," he placed his hand on my shoulder "it was nice knowing you."

"He's got more important things to do than worry about me I'm sure." I said carelessly as brushed his hand off me.

"So like, what happened between you and him anyway?" He asked, his sentence slow as if he was trying to figure out the appropriate thing to say.

"What do you think happened?" I asked not really careing, I was just trying to get him to do the talking so I didn't have to.

"Well everyone's been saying that tyler had been hooking up with jenna but then the 'new punk guy' put all the rumours to rest and announced he's been hooking up with Jason's girl." He said as if he was on air for the news "or at least that's what I heard some dudes talking about at the urinals. Hey is that what you and tyler where talking about the other day when you made me leave the room?"

"Me and tyler barely know eachother." Was all I said, deciding I was done with this subject.

I could tell Toby had a lot of questions but he was too polite and timid to press them onto me, so he just let it go and accepted whatever I had to say.
I don't even have to teach him, he just goes by my rule of 'what I say goes'.

I walked into the school with him by my side, neither one of us saying anymore until he announced that he had early morning band practice and rushed off with haste.

Tyler's pov

I walked down the school hall when I spotted Jason and the first thing I noticed besides his pissed off expression were the shades of purple bruising around his eye.

Yikes okay nice job josh.

I had no idea if Jason was still mad at me or not, so I decided it best just to avoid him. So turning quickly and slinked myself into the boys bathroom that was right by me.
