"Alright guys it's time to announce cutest winter couple." Martha said
I watched as everyone lined up to hear the announcements me and Phillips was still sitting down listening
"Okay everyone your cutest winter formal couple is..... Benjamin Rodriguez and Wendy Puffercorn." Mary and Martha voices boomed in the mic
I clapped and saw Benny and Wendy go receive their crowns I have to say I wasn't jealous or sad because I had to let the thought of me and Benny relationship go for the good of the future I looked over at Phillips and smiled
"The Princess and Prince may take their first dance." Mary said
I watched as Benny and Wendy stepped down from the stage Benny whispered something in her ear and she looked sadden.
Benny Pov: This was how I was going to get Layla back I was going to ask her to dance with me not Wendy... then tell her how I feel about her. I whispered I'm sorry in Wendy's ear and walked over to Layla's and Phillips table. I walked up to Layla and reached out my hand
"May I have this dance." I said
She nodded and gave me her hand as we walked to the dance floor.
Layla Pov: My mind was spinning all thoughts of me forgetting about Benny came rushing and my was flooded with memories of us. We waited the song to start I looked around and saw all eyes on us and Mary crying of course. I saw Wendy looking for someone to dance with so squints walked up and accepted the dance. I giggled to myself as the song started to play Every Year, Every Christmas. Benny grabbed my waist and wrapped my arms around his neck it was a while before we spoke to each other.
"Layla look I'm sorry about everything... I didn't mean to fall for Wendy but I did and maybe it was because you left and didn't get a chance to say goodbye. I had thought you left for good and I thought that was the end of us but once you came back I knew that I wasn't in love with Wendy... but I was in love with you... I've been love with you since 5th grade and I always will be.. so I'm asking you here at the winter formal to take me back as your boyfriend and be the number priority in my life." He said
I laughed and then wiped a tear from my eyes.
"Benny you've been in love with me since 5th grade?" I said smiling
"Yes... and I will shout it to the world if I have too." He said smiling
There it was that smile that made me feel safe and warm when ever I was that smile on his face
