“So where did you go this morning?” I asked Mimi while I drove. Looking back in the mirror I saw a group of people sitting in my backseat. There was Mimi the suspected traitor, Zack the boy who recently laid me flat on my ass and Wayne the jolly giant that was texting away. Jordan had sensed the strange hue in the air and sat quietly.

“I just wanted to take a walk before we started today. I mean it is Sunday which means Stella is about to throwing everything at us.” Once Mimi had brought this fact to my attention the more worried I was about what was about to happen. I hadn’t realized that I’d been here for the past two days without letting my parent’s know where I was. My cell phone was in the overnight back that Stella had taken from me; no doubt with a thousand missed calls.

The fact that Mimi was lying to me only proved my suspicions about her. If she had come clean about meeting with Stella it would have been easy to put everything past us. Let the games begin. The one thing that I had above her was that she had no idea what I knew.

It would stay that way and hopefully Zack wouldn’t say anything.

“Well we will be prepared for anything.” Jordan chimed finally not being able to be silent anymore. Quiet would not be a descriptor I would use for her anymore. She twitched and wasn’t able to sit still

“So what do you think this challenge is?” Jordan tried to keep the conversation going but it seemed to be a conversation between herself and I. Everyone in the back seat stayed quiet.

“I have no idea and if this is the only clue she is going to give us we might as well throw in the towel.” A tube of lipstick could mean so many possible things. There were countless stores in the mall that sold lipstick. Since we already had the bottles that meant we weren’t supposed to steal anything which was an added bonus.

“I love my color.” Jordan pulled down the mirror putting on the bright orange color. She puckered her lips making kissing faces at the mirror. She put her lips on the mirror leaving the imprint.

Jordan pulled her sleeve down ready to smear it.

“Just leave it. You’re just going to make it worse by doing that,” I said. My voice sounded stern so I gave a slight laugh after I spoke just to assure her it was okay.

The rest of the ride was silent. Jordan applied more layers inspecting the tube of lip stick trying to see if there was anything more to the clue we had been given. My eyes looked in the review mirror. Wayne was still glued to his cell phone his thumbs dancing across the scream. Mimi looked outside the window deep in thought. Zack’s eyes looked back at mine. The hazel was disturbingly nice to look at.

Such nice eyes but with such a sarcastic smile.

“Eden!” Jordan shouted rather loudly catch my attention. My eyes snapped back towards the road. I had slowly gotten closer and closer to the solid yellow line. I veered back into my lane ignore the snicker from behind me.
