“Jordan don’t worry,” I told her—“Gather up all the girls in the hallway. Don’t let anyone do anything until I get back,” I instructed flying off the bench and heading towards a group of people that I knew.
I knew that Jordan would do as I asked. Guy surprisingly enough was still lurking around with Dee close by. The party was still going at full swing so again I was forced to push through crowds of people to get to them.
“Hey,” I greeted Guy while all I got was a disapproving look from Dee.
“Hi, were is your boyfriend?” he asked.
The worst part was that I wasn’t sure who he was referring too.
“Around here somewhere,” I joked trying to brush the comment off.
“Guy, do you have a lighter I can borrow?” I asked with all the intentions of setting all our photos of fire, only leaving ashes behind.
“I didn’t think you were a smoker?” Dee rolled her eyes at me.
“I’m not,” I replied.
Guy gave me a confused look before digging deep into his pocket and passing me a cheap lighter. I took it from him slipping it into my own pocket. I was half a second away from walking away and joining the group of girls waiting in the hallway for me.
“Look, its Adam.” Dee’s voice was excited.
“Yay, Adam.” You could hear the sarcasm in Guy’s tone—“Found your boyfriend,” Guy added making Dee’s excited hue fizzle.
“Boyfriend?” she questioned surprised. There was a way she said it that made me want to push her into the pool.
Adam slithered through groups of people with Carter close by his side. At least he had found someone to talk to while I ran around trying to save my own skin. Adam smiled seeing me picking up speed.
“Hi.” The greeting went around.
Guy’s eyes glared at me looking between Adam and me. I knew that he was trying to remind me of the promise that I had made him. I was supposed to show Dee that Adam was taken. I even added the perk of threatening Dee and letting her know where I stood, which was right in between Adam and her.
