Stella’s hands were placed on her hips. Her attitude was something that couldn’t be ignored. Nancy and Sandra ran to her side while she waited for the right moment to speak. She was keeping all of us in suspense.

“I hope you guys don’t think you have it easy today. I may have money but daddy is going to notice the next chunk we take out of his bank account. So this challenge was and is going to be the easiest you do today.” She smiled looking at each of us as individuals sending fear through her eyes.

Her blonde hair was strangely enough pulled into a high ponytail. I’d never seen her hair up in a simple style like that. She wore causal tight skinny jeans and a baggy t-shirt. It was almost like something you would wear to clean your room or to help your friend move. It was an outfit that I would wear on any given day.

“Please hand over the cash.” Stella held out her hands but it was Sandra and Nancy who came to our booths to collect the money boxes.

Nancy didn’t grab the box and return it to Stella like I thought she would. She pulled out the large stack of small bills and counted out until she got to a certain number. Nancy handed the counted stack to us before she moved onto the next booth. I hadn’t even known you could find this many men in a mall.

“Every program needs funding and it is rather funny to see every boy covered it lip stick. It is even funnier to see their girlfriend’s faces,” Stella snickered thinking about it.

For once I was able to see something Stella and I shared. There were countless times when I was lost in thought laughing out loud about something I had said inside my own head. The similarities ended there.

“So follow me and I will explain the next challenge because this is going to be a fun one. Since you are no longer being disqualified now you will play for immunity,” Stella spoke marching in front of us.

Every girl left perked up hearing what she said. The golden ticket to a better life was in reach, or at least it felt as if it was so. Everyone hurried after Stella while she made her way through the crowd. I couldn’t help but wonder if anyone else was looking at us wondering what we were up to.

“It can only be won on this round and is good until the end of the weekend. If you win you can back out of any challenge you want this no questions asked.” We continued to crowd Stella waiting for her to tell us more. This was something that I wanted and wanted badly.

“It is possible for no one to win this challenge so all of you need to be on your toes.” Stella had brought all of us into the busy food court.

It was slightly passed lunch and it was still packed. Boys covered in lipstick were seen everywhere. Small groups of people gathered sitting at tables most with shopping bags around their feet. We followed Stella to the center of the food court where a large tree grew. The tiles around the large pot were dirtier and slightly lifted then the rest.

“So I’m assuming you are all wondering what this challenge is.” Stella paused to raise the tension. Everyone was waiting impatiently.
