The story of James and Lily

Lets try friends

Lily's POV
"Can I talk to you?" He asks looking hopeful, she hesitates for a moment but quickly stands up and straightens out her clothes.
"Yeah sure"
"You can use my room" I say pointing to the stairs.
"Thanks" they both mumble.

We all wait silently until they are in the room with my door safely closed before speaking.
"We're going to listen right" I confirm glancing at everyone. "Well we really shouldn't..." Remus begins, looking torn.
"who cares lets go" James beams leaping over the coffee table and up the stairs, quickly followed by the rest of us as quietly as we can.
James stops and kneels down beside the door frame with his finger over his lips, he waves us over and we all take our place beside him, making as little noice as possible.

Me and James press our ears up against the door but I can't hear anything but muffled noises, but after 5 minutes they erupt into loud shouts of anger. "They does not sound good" Alice whispers leaning in closer.
"No it...wait..oh no" James says growing pale.
"What" Peter asks.
I here it too, she's going to open the door, I see the handle move but nothing happens yet as she lets go and bellows something else.
"Quick go go go" I order, causing everyone to jump up.
I panic and head for James room closing the door when Peter the last one to get here is safely in.
Just as Mar swings open mine and I hear her running down the stairs still screaming, Sirius not doing much better. Once they're down I open the door slightly and peak out.
"Where has everyone gone" she asks angrily.
"I don't know they probably left" Sirius scowls.
"Well you don't have to be so."
They continue they're very heated argument and we all creep out into the landing to listen.
"This is so wrong, we shouldn't be doing this" Alice says.
"I know" I agree peering through the railings to see them better.

After 30 minutes of their screening match everyone was getting tired. "Well we've missed dinner" Remus says looking at his watch gaining a quiet groan from everyone else.
"Well we can't go down now they'll know we've been listening" I tell them gesturing to the not so happy couple downstairs.
They have a small grunt in agreement as I turn around to lean against the wall.
"I can't believe this is happening" I state leaning against James.
"Me neither"

They haven't said anything about what they're going to do or what's actually happening yet it's all just been arguing for the last 2 hours so we've all pretty much lost interest. But it all went quite around 5 minutes ago so we're waiting to see what's going on.
"I just don't know what to do" she says defeatedly collapsing down on the sofa.
Sirius it's beside her and looks about as tired as she does. "I love you" he says causing her to look up at him.
"I love you too" she smiles weakly.
"But I can't do this anymore, we don't trust each other Sirius" her eyes look desperate as she turns so she's fully facing him.
"But" "shh isn't okay I know you haven't done anything" she interrupts him putting her hand on his.

"This is horrible" I whisper sadly, I feel James's arm tighten around me as he gently strokes my back.
We sit and listen for another hour, Mar cried and Sirius held her until she stoped. It really is strange to see her so vulnerable, to see either of them like it actually.
Once she's calmed down a bit they began to actually discuss what was going to happen.
They both agreed they couldn't be together right now because it just wasn't working, they need to grow up a bit first. But they don't want to make it awkward for any of us or stop being friends. So that's what they're going to do they're going to be friends, until they know they're ready. Once they'd each said everything they wanted to Sirius kissed her softly on the lips and once on her cheek before leaving and she fell asleep a couple minutes later, still crying silently.

After we were sure she was defiantly asleep we all crept down and James picked her up so we could take her back to her room. She didn't even flinch at the movement, this is probably the best she's slept in days.
We all walk together to the gryffindor common room and me and Alice rather unbelievably successfully take Mar from James and put her into bed.
I say good night to everyone and me and James make our way back to our own dorm.

"Well that was exhausting" I say as I lean against him. "Yeah it really was" he agrees resting his head on mine.
"At least they sorted everything out"
"Yeah I guess so..do you think it'll work though. Them just being friends"
I look up at him with sigh, "I hope so"
