He walked towards the engine and turned it on but we were only given a dying sound of its part. JB tried again and again but the engine will not start. Our eyes met and I could see I looked worried. He quickly took out his phone from his pocket but then cursed in Korean when he realized we had no signal.
Memories from the night in the woods flashed right into my mind. This can not be true, we can not stay here. "Here, try with mine." I said quickly getting my phone out of my backpack. He took it and dialed a number but the call ended once the phone started beeping over the lack of the signal. He closed his eyes and clenched his jaw.
"I'm sorry. Every time we come here, I have a signal. I have no idea what's going on today. "He said trying and trying again with both of our phones. He gave me back mine and I tried it but it was impossible. I noticed the sky going darker now and the temperature dropping gradually.
I looked down at my dress and cursed myself on my mind for my fashion choices. "What are we going to do?" I asked but he shrugged, I looked a bit desperate.
"I have no idea. We do not have the oars to row back to the harbor. "He said and it was obvious since these boats had an engine. I sighed and started to prepare myself psychologically to probably start a couple of more hours here.
I started laughing after a few minutes in silence. "What?" I found myself smiling at his laugh, it was a bit contagious.
"It's just ... This looks slightly familiar, don't you agree?" He asked almost wiping the tears caused by the laugh. I nodded.
"I was thinking the same." I said and we both started laughing. "But this time is scariest."
"Yeah, it is." I have agreed to open his backpack. "Good thing I brought food and a blanket." He said showing me inside his backpack. I tilted my head in confusion.
Why would he bring that?
"I thought about having a snack on the park once we finished fishing, that's why I brought this but it seems like we're going to have it here instead." He pointed at our surroundings.
"I think we'll have to spend the night here, and no, this isn't a déjà vu." He said joking. I don't know why but I laughed maybe it was the frustration I had inside but everything seemed funny to me right now.
"It's fine, as long there's not sharks in here." I said but he remained silent. I felt my heart beating faster as I stood from the boat and looked at him.
"JB!" I exclaimed but he burst in laugh, pressing his hands on his stomach and closing his eyes.
"Easy... There's no such a thing as sharks in here." He said in reassurance.
We stayed there in the boat. My back began hurting from being sat the whole afternoon. "What time is it?" I asked, he looked down to this watch. "7:12" He said and suddenly we both heard a rumble.
"What was that?" I asked opening my eyes widely and looking around the boat. "Uh my stomach, sorry." He said and I rolled my eyes.
"Are you hungry?" He asked. I wasn't hungry but I nodded in answer. Maybe the food will distract me and make me feel better. He pulled out two lunch boxes and gave me one. I opened it to find a warm meal that looked really delicious.
"Whoa, this looks amazing." I said as I started eating, he smiled warmly at me and returned to his food. There was rice with fried kimchi with pork and vegetables.
