Guys Like You: Christmas Special
"Merry Christmas!" Is the first thing I hear next thing in the morning. It had been a few days after my last shift at Forever 21 and now I was on Christmas break.
I sit up in my bed, and rub my eyes, smiling at my two bestest friends in the whole world. Pia and Alex came in and greeted me with warm smiles.
It was now December 24th and almost all of London was covered in white snow. "Merry Christmas I mumble sleepily, hugging both my friends who were evidently still in their pyjamas.
"I was kinda hoping you'd wear this today." Alex smiled proudly and I smile back. She laid down a beautifully wrapped box on my lap and I pulled the string with ease.
Inside that box was a white Christmas sweater. It was far from perfect and there were a few mistakes on the stitching "I made it myself," Alex says shyly "I know it isn't exactly perfect but it's the best I can do." Alex smiled and I leaned in for a hug "It's perfect, actually. Thanks a lot." I smiled and turned to look at them both.
"Breakfast will be ready soon." Pia tells me before they get out of my bedroom. Since our tradition was usually wearing pyjamas in the morning, I didn't change yet. Instead, I brushed my teeth and combed my hair, pulling it into a tight ponytail. I sighed as I devised whether to wear makeup or not. I decided not to as I wasn't trying to impress anyone.
I got out of my bedroom, going down the stairs to the smell of chocolate chip and blueberry banana pancakes, that Alex only cooked every now and again. I smiled, knowing that I'd have the best breakfast in my entire life.
"There you are." Pia smiled, setting down a plate on the table. "Here I am," I smiled "Need any help?" I asked, hopping on top of the kitchen island. "Nah we're almost done anyway." Alex cheered, placing a hot batch of the delicious pancakes on top of the table along with the other food. Mainly bacon, cheese omelettes, poptarts, and s'mores.
We all sat down by the table, Alex was beside me and Pia was in front of us. We started to put food on our plates and talk about nothing and everything. "There was this one time in sixth grade when this really chubby kid in art class broke his chair." Pia laughed and we laughed along. "But wasn't our chairs wooden?" Alex said inbetween giggles "Exactly why it's funny!" Pia giggled, laughing more.
After we were done with breakfast I offered to wash the dishes so they let me. They sat on the living room couch (now turned into a bed) and watched Spongebob Squarepants whilst waiting for me. Soon after I was finish Alex turned the lights off and we all huddled together, Pia inserted the disc of our first movie in the DVD player and we began our marathon.
This was a normal tradition for us. We'd have a bunch of Christmas ready for us to use and we usually finish all the movies before night came. At night, we invite all our closest friends. Usually we invite family but since Alex and I don't have one anymore, Pia invites her family to come and celebrate Christmas with us.
It's usually Christmas time when I get to use a huge amount of my cooking skills, I'm in charge of making food for the kids at the Christmas feast so it's usually a blast making the food. Alex was in charge for making all the food the teenagers would eat, and Pia, well she was our captain. Literally. She governed our every move, telling us if the salt was too much or if the dish could use more vinegar.
We decided to take showers first so that's exactly what we did. After I had cleaned myself, I put on some black skinny jeans, a white tank top, the Christmas sweater Alex gave me, and a pair of red Keds. I put a fair amount of makeup on and lightly curled my hair, leaving it down. Eventually I was finished so I met up with Alex, who was wearing a grey Christmas sweater and some skinny jeans, and Pia who was wearing a really cute Christmas sweater with different colours on it.
