Chapter 30: I'm Sorry, I Don't Think I Can Puke Rainbows and Puppies Anymore

Groggily rolling to my side, I opened my eyes and adjusted them to the sunlight seeping in from the window. We had checked in a hotel late last night after signing Pia's confinement papers. The first night alone caused an ass-load of money and the lads paid for the fee. We didn't really want them to because mainly, Alex and I are way too shy to accept a gift like that.

I sighed, sitting up in my bed as I stared at the sleeping figure beside me. Niall gently stirred in his sleep, his back facing the bed parallel to ours where Alex and Harry slept. Don't worry, the barracaded themselves so they would separate. I pinched the bridge of my nose, closing my eyes and leaning on the bed.

After a few moments, I decided to get up and take a shower. The water didn't relax me as much as I liked. I changed into clean clothes which consisted of an oversized jumper, ripped jean shorts and black ankle boots. I ran a hand through my hair, mentally having a war inside my head because I couldn't decide what to do with it. When I couldn't think clearly anymore I just threw my hair in a donut bun.

I also put on light makeup, concealing all my virtual imperfections. I went back to the beds where everyone was still fast asleep. I let out a tired huff and grabbed my iPhone from the night stand, taking some pocket money and my key card as well before leaving the hotel room.

The walk from the hotel to a local Starbucks kiosk went by fast. I ordered myself a venti cup of mocha coffee before going back to the hotel. When I got back to the room, Alex, Harry and Niall were already up and running. Alex had her head rested on the sleek white couch in the living room in front of the TV that displayed a re-run of Brand X With Russel Brand. Niall and Harry were eating cereal in the mini kitchenette when I arrived.

Alex looked up at me and shot me a small smile "Hey." I smiled back in return and walked over to Harry and Niall, setting down my cup. Niall smiled at me though it didn't quite reach his eyes. I smiled back, of course I would be sure that it didn't reach my eyes either. Harry rubbed his face a little and walked over to Alex, sitting down beside her and watching the show. I turned my attention to Niall and sighed.

"What's wrong, love?" Niall asks worriedly, glancing at me questioningly as I shook my head "Nothing." I say, looking down and taking a sip from my coffee. Niall lifts my chin and looks into my eyes and for a moment something flashed in his eyes, though I couldn't quite grasp what it was.

"I know something's wrong, love. You can tell me." He says sincerely and I smile softly at him, pecking his lips and taking another sip from the seemingly endless cup of bitter goodness. I sighed heavily, feeling the weight of the world on my shoulders "You know how all of you are so depressed and I have to lift your spirits up all the time? It gets fucking tiring and I'm so used to telling all of you that everything is fucking alright when in reality everything is just plain crap! I try my hardest to not be down like the rest of you but it's so hard because none of you are even trying for fuck's sake!" I breathed heavily, closing my eyes and opening them again.

Evidently, my voice reached the living room so they were all facing me and I looked in the direction of the door as I sighed and chuckled lightly "I'm sorry, I don't think I can puke rainbows and puppies anymore." I say, trying to ease up the mood but it only made the atmosphere more tense than ever before. Alex then stood up and walked over to me, giving me a reassuring squeeze.

"You don't have to do that, Anthea. We'll take you as you are." I grinned down at her but my eyes widened immediately at her attire. Alex was wearing black combat boots, ripped jean shorts, a white muscle tank, a leather jacket and black stockings. My eyes trailed her body from bottom to top and it landed on her face. The usual light and seemingly non-existent makeup Alex used to wear was replaced by an application of smoky eyeshadow and a coat of dark blue liquid eyeliner followed by a light tap of mascara and finally a layer of dark red lipstick.
