The Playground and the Power Outage

Bree's POV

I smiled as the memory of Adam proposing to Caitlyn replayed in my mind. I couldn't believe everyone was getting married. Caitlyn and I were scheduled to be co-maid of honors at Leo and Jannel's wedding while Adam and Chase were the co-best men. I felt myself yawn as I glanced over to the clock. We had been talking for hours now. Since about six actually. Now, it was bridging on 2:30 in the morning. Chase and I had to leave. I don't think I could stay awake long enough to tell another story.

"Well, I've had fun." Chase started as he picked up on what I had been thinking. I smiled as he helped me up off the couch. We would be seeing each other yet again just hours from now while we helped Leo pick out a tuxedo for his wedding. Jannel had told me she had previous picked one out for her future husband, but he insisted he try on some others. Chase took my hand in his as he lead me to the door, Adam and Leo following as we did.

"But it's still early. There's so much more to remember-"

"Actually there isn't. I think we have retraced almost our entire existence within... Eight hours. We'll see you guys, later today. Bree and I are going home." Chase interrupted as he took me out into the hallway. I waved teasingly as Adam shut the door.

"Joy kills." I could hear Leo mumbled under his breath behind the door as he and Adam walked further into their apartment. I rolled my eyes as Chase pulled me forward.

"What is up with those two? They act like we never spend time together, anymore." I ranted as we walked down the stairs and out into the parking lot. Chase laughed and nodded.

"I know. But I think they wanted to spend a little more time away from what happened... Then. That's probably why they insisted that we stay longer. To tell more happy memories." Chase added as he opened the door for me. I nodded before he walked over to his own side of the car. We got inside and sat as we looked to each other.

"How did that happen anyway?" Chase asked after a small silence overtook us. I shrugged as I let my mind fall back to my very short friendship with Adam.

"I'm not going to cry." My dad mumbled as he held his hand over his eyes, still holding into my hand as I attempted to pull away. Not wanting to miss out on the fun that the others were having. I could see the other kids racing away from their parents while my dad still held onto me as if he was going to lose me forever.

"But daddy! I have to go." I whined as I stomped my foot against the ground. He nodded, slowly looking down to me as he kneeled down to my level. I had only been about three feet tall. Plus, he shouldn't have been crying. I had been going to school for about two weeks at that point. I sighed in annoyance as Adam called me from the playground. Racing over as he did so, seeing the situation I was in. My dad shook his head before pulling me closer, trying to tell me something.

"You know about my best friend from school?" He asked hopefully. I nodded slowly, barely recalling what he had been talking about the previous day.

"Yeah." I replied simply, my foot still tapping as I watched Adam stand a few feet away from us. Waiting for me to go play with him. Adam smiled and walked over, waving to my dad and I as he did so. He stopped right in front of me before speaking.
