It seemed as though she didn't keep her promise though. Noel left not too long to be with Daniel, but Harry understood why. It was just the nostalgia of merely being with her that made his heart ache the most.

He was immediately snapped out of his thoughts with Noel quickly dragging him by the arm to a corner of his house that didn't contain crowds of halfway drunk adults or stray kids running around. "Where'd you hang the mistletoe up this year?"

Harry quirked up one of his eyebrows. "What?"

"You know, the mistletoe? That one plant that people stand under during the holidays and-"

"I know what mistletoe is," he said with an annoyed tone. "Why?"

"I want to kiss Daniel under the mistletoe." It was that simple sentence that got Noel smiling the brightest smile that Harry has seen from her in a while. Oh, how he wished that he was the cause of that smile. But, sometimes, you don't always get what you want for Christmas.

"Upstairs on the balcony. There might be people around, so be careful. My family members get drunk off of just a sip of wine," Harry responded in a monotone voice.

Noel clearly didn't notice his bothersome mood, because she quickly hugged him and kissed his cheek before running out and yelling a short 'thanks love' to him.

_____

Harry ignored everyone during the rest of the party, not wanting to be a burden in conversations that range from baby due dates to university stress at its worse. He walked up to the balcony, not necessarily knowing the exact reason due to how cold and snowy it was.

He got closer to the balcony and saw Daniel's silhouette. "Darling, he spoke out, a shiver quite clear in his voice, "I'm sorry that I couldn't make it this year. Maybe next time, alright?" He paused, but Harry continued to listen. "I'm with my Statistics tutor. Yes, that one. C'mon, you don't have to worry about anything. We're not even that serious. Anyways-"

Harry couldn't listen any longer, in fear of his heart breaking at the fact of Noel's heart breaking m.

As he made his descent downstairs, he bumped into a body accidentally, catching them before they were to fall. "I'm so sorry. I didn't see-"

It was Camryn laughing and Harry looked even more confused. "Goodness, thanks for almost killing me, but saving my life right after."

"Noel?"

She looked up at him weirdly and continued walking up the steps to the second floor as Harry followed. "Yes? Is something wrong?"

"Oh, uh, I just thought that you were on the balcony with Daniel."

She merely shrugged. "He's in the balcony? Outside?" She frowned a bit but continued to walk up and stopped midway in front of the door. Oh no. "I'll meet you back inside in a bit, okay?"

_____

Noel approached the balcony and saw the shape of Daniel's body. She was about to walk out to greet him but saw him occupied on his phone.

"You're freaking out over nothing, love. She's nice, but I highly doubt that our relationship is gonna last until the next year." He said the last part with a slight laugh, and Noel continued to lean on the wall. "Can't wait to see you in a few. Mmhm. Yeah, I know." He laughed out again, and Noel saw a smile creep up on his face. It was one that she was unable to create for him. "I love you, Jules."

Daniel walked back inside as Noel sat on the ground, not even trying to hide herself. Daniel saw her and smiled, sitting down with her.

"So, how're you enjoying the night? It's freezing out there, so-"

She sighed and looked at him with a sad smile. "I know I shouldn't be asking this," she looked down at her hands, "But who's Jules?"

_____

"Get out! Just get out!" Tears were streaming down her face as she saw him walking out the door while everybody stared in amusement. But she didn't care. Once the door slammed shut with a tipsy Daniel going to who-knows-where, Camryn turned to everyone and quickly apologized. "I-I'm sorry about... that." She ran up to the guest room and everyone proceeded to what they were doing.

Harry looked at her, heartbroken at the thought of her being heartbroken.

"Go after her," Anne whispered into his ear. He nodded and quickly made his way back up the stairs.
