Adielle put her hand on Niall's shoulder in silent apology as she walked to her sister's side, not forgetting to grab a bottle of wine and two wine-glasses on her way there. After she sat down, she poured herself and Noel a glass of wine. "Okay, explain," she bluntly spoke, taking a sip of the red liquid.
Rather than taking her time drinking the wine, Noel completely lost care about people noticing her lack of manners and chugged the full glass, much to Adielle's surprise. She poured herself another glass and took a small sip before setting it on the table. "I just messed up everything even more. God, I'm a screw up." She sighed in complete regret.
"Was it the same topic?" Adielle pushed. She saw Noel slowly nod her head, which was now completely resting in the palms of her small hands. "Well, what did you say that made Harry leave?
Noel mumbled out, "I'm still unsure of our relationship." Physically repeating that quote hurt just as much as mentally repeating it. When she said it out loud, it felt more real. It felt like a slap on the face by something called Reality. But she knew she deserved it.
"Was it just in the moment?" Adielle asked, not surprised at all. She knew Noel like the back of her hand. And she knew that when Noel felt corned in situations, she would ignore the fact that you have to, at the least, think through what you are going to say. This was just a prime example at how bad it could bite you on the ass. Then, Adielle drank the rest of her wine and put the glass down, attempting to hide her temptations of drinking another glass, or maybe two or three at that rate.
"Okay, here's honesty time," she warned in a complete serious tone. "First on the list, you, my dear elder sister, need to start thinking before you say something."
"I know, but-"
"No," she cut off. "No 'buts' allowed. You know the rules. When you come to me for advice, you either sit down and completely listen, or you don't listen at all." Noel nodded in complete understanding. This was one of the many/endless factors that she loved about Adielle: Adielle was strict on morals and was able to say "no" the first time, a factor that Noel longed to have for her entire life.
"This is hard, but have you tried seeing it in his point of view yet?" Noel shook her head in response. "He kept asking you because he loves you, Noe. He loves you enough to love you that way, if you know what I mean. I may not be the one in a relationship with him, but I know enough that Harry doesn't just fuck around for fun in order to keep his male hormones in check. And yeah, him asking the same question repeatedly may be annoying. But don't you think that he'd feel annoyed when you would just shrug in response to a question that clearly means a lot to him?"
Adielle waited for a response: any kind of response. Whether it was an angry one where Noel poured wine all over her, or a happy one where Noel thanked her to the ends of the Earth, she waited. But she never got a response. Noel merely gave her a look that made her seem as if she wasn't interested in the topic anymore. And Adielle felt that she cracked the case open enough to find some answers. "Noel, he thinks that you don't care."
