I was woken from my deep slumber when my head bumped into something soft. Despite being awake now, I still kept my eyes shut and had my head resting on whatever the softness belonged to.
Eventually I had no choice but to look up due to the pain creeping on the back of my neck. I came face to face with Kim Seokjin, the psychiatrist.
"I'm sorry," I said in a sleepy manner when realising I had been resting on his shoulder the whole time.
"It's alright." He gave me a smile before quickly turning away to pick up something. "Want cola?"
He passed a can of drink to me, similar to the one which he was drinking from. A loud yawn escaped my lips before opening the can and taking a chug from it.
"What's the time?" I asked, scanning the empty and dark waiting room, trying to locate a wall clock.
The last thing I remembered was sitting in the exact same seat, except the room was bright and busy with all sorts of people. Now the place had been left deserted.
"Almost eleven. You should go home now, no need to stay here."
I knew I didn't have to but I wanted to stay due to a desire I couldn't explain. I shook my head to show I was alright with staying.
Right before he had arrived to the apartment, Jimin fainted again. Despite his earlier protest, we had no choice but to take him to the hospital where he was currently getting treated.
"You aren't a person with many words." He let out a chuckle before taking a sip from his can of drink. "Nothing like Jimin."
"What is that comparison supposed to mean?"
I found it peculiar that he had made such a random observation.
"That mouth of his never closes, unless it's therapy session time, then his lips are sealed." He shook his head, lowering his eyes to the satisfyingly clean floor. "I wonder how he found someone like you."
I violently coughed when I choked on the cola. The outburst caused him to let out a high pitch yelp, something you wouldn't expect to come out of a grown man like him. This made me both cough and laugh at the same time. Not a good combination.
"How many times do I have to tell you?" I rolled my eyes. "We are just neighbours!"
Ever since we had come to the hospital, he kept asking about the relationship between me and Jimin. There was no point in me saying anything, since he only seemed to joke about it.
"Oh yes, totally. You looked after him and then came all the way here, slept in this waiting room in that uncomfortable position for the last four hours because you are just neighbours," he said, sarcastically.
I wanted to quickly change the subject. "Can you explain to me what is going on with Jimin?"
The young psychiatrist's lips pursed as he quickly averted my gaze.
"I can't say anything since it's patient confidentiality, not even his family can know much about our sessions. Well there wouldn't be much to tell anyways since he hasn't been attending recently."
I leaned back on the plastic chair and thought about what Jimin could be hiding. Was he secretly a terminally ill patient? But the only evidence to support that would be the many pills collected in his cabinet.
"I'm sure he will tell you eventually," he said. "In fact, can you please persuade him to come back to his therapy sessions?"
I frowned at him. "Why would he listen to me?"
