I looked at him for a second and then shrugged thinking maybe I should come up with a new nickname for him. Maybe something like Hotshot Singer or Singer Boy but Crazy suited him better than his own name so I decided to keep it.
“So he’s famous,” I said to April and she nodded. I looked at Niall again and noticed that his hair was blonde.
I could have said anything in the world to him. I could’ve asked him anything, ‘are you enjoying the performance?’ or something normal but instead I said: “Didn’t your hair used to be brown?” which started up a conversation about his hair and made April mentally face palm and I knew when he left I’d hear an earful from her. In his defence it was very nice hair styled up in a quiff with gel.
Once Niall went back to his friends or band mates or whatever I focused on Oly again. I had my arms folded and so did April. Her elbow nudged mine.
“What?” I asked not tearing my eyes away from Oly.
“He likes you.”
“No he doesn’t.”
“Okay maybe he doesn’t but he could like you. I think you should go up to him and organise a day to hang out or something.”
“No. I don’t do relationships and you know this.”
“Oh here we go,” she muttered under her breath and rolling her eyes.
“They are stupid and pointless and you end up crying over a bucket of ice cream whilst the guy screws the latest girl in town. I think I’ll stick with my one-night stands. It’s just easier. No effort, no strings and Oly is doing great!”
“We should go backstage again so when she gets off stage we can see her,” April suggested and I nodded. Oly was on her last song so we made our way to the door Oly would use to get off the stage.
Oly said goodbye to the crowd as she took her guitar off and waved to the fans who were cheering and then she spotted us backstage and she said one last goodbye before running off the stage. She ran straight to April and I and started jumping up and down on the spot in front of us.
“Oh my, God! That was amazing! They actually liked me! They were singing along! They were screaming my name! They, oh God, they were cheering! Ahh! Did I do good?”
“You did great!” April shrieked.
“You were an actual superstar on that stage! I’m so proud of you! Our little Rolie Polie Oly is all grown up!”
“Awe, guys! You said you’d stop saying that!” Oly complained, “I’m not five anymore. That isn’t cool.”
“You just had an arena of people singing along to your songs. I’m pretty sure you’re cool.”
“Thanks Ape.”
“What did I tell you about that name?” April said gritting her teeth whilst I high fived Oly.
“Well what did I tell you guys about Rolie Polie Oly?”
“Touché,” I told Oly.
“Anyway, I want you two to meet the girls before they go on!”
“Are you sure, Oly? We can meet them after,” April said.
