First of all, I just want to apologize for taking so long with updating. College is kicking my butt right now. Second, OMFG!! 850 Reads?! Thank you so much!!! That's seriously amazing!! Now, on to the story!

When I wake up the next morning, I'm no longer in the cave. I'm in my room on my bed.

"Whaa..." Racking my brain, I try to put together some sense of how I got home.

I then get a memory of crawling in my window at David's prodding.

I grin as a sense of safety floats through me at the thought of his name.

"Kiri."

I look up as Mom walks into my room.

"What time is it?" I ask her.

She smiles. "It's only 9. You didn't sleep late."

I nod and watch her as she walk around my room.

"You came home really late last night. I didn't even hear you come in."

I sigh and pulls my knees up to my chest and rest my chin on them. "I found some friends to hang out with."

She turns to me and smiles. "That's great, honey. Just let me know next time so I don't worry. And change your clothes when you get home."

I smile. "Okay."

She sits on my bed and hugs me close.

When she pulls away suddenly, I look over to see her frowning.

"You got another piercing?"

I feel my left ear and smile. "Yeah. I thought it was cool."

She sighs and shakes her head, smiling. "Crazy kids."

I bump her with my shoulder. "We have to do something to keep you young."

She laughs and stands. "Today's my first day on the job at Max's video store. So I'll see you tonight."

I nod. "Okay. Love you."

She smiles. "Love you, too, Moon."

I giggle at the use of my old nickname.

"Oh." She says, turning around. "Would you mind staying here? Michael came home late, too, and he's still asleep. I don't want Sammy to be here alone."

I nod. "Yeah. Tell him to come in here and we can talk comics."

"Thank you, sweetie." Mom says, leaving my room.

I quickly change out of last night's clothes into something comfortable then sit back on my bed with my back leaning against the headboard.

Moments later, Sam bounds into my room with Nanook on his heels. He dives onto my bed and hands me a bottle of orange juice and a granola bar.

"So, what comics do you wanna talk about?" He asks, laying his head on Nanook's back, who had climbed into my bed and laid down.

"Not Superman."

He whines. "Come on! Why not?!"

I laugh. "Because I said so."

He huffs and pouts.

"How about..." I think for a moment. "Batman."

He shoots up. "No. You can't ask a Superman fan to talk about Batman."

I giggle. "Why not?"

"Because. It's in the comic book rulebook."

I roll my eyes. "And where do I find this rulebook?"

"It can only be relayed by word of mouth. The real rulebook is so protected by the comic book gods that no one can access it. So the rules have just been passed down."

I stare at him incredulously. "You expect me to believe that?"

He gives me a serious nod. And when I huff, he busts out laughing. I shove him and he tumbles off my bed, still laughing.

Nanook gives a little bark and licks my cheek.

"See, Sammy? Even Nanook agrees with me."

Sammy pops up. "No fair. You turned my dog against me!"

"Nope. He just loves me more." I say, kissing the top of Nanook's head.

"Says you." He mutters. "Nanook! C'mere boy!"

Nanook looks at him then flops his head onto my lap and closes his eyes.

I giggle. "Says Nanook, dude."

Sammy sighs.

I reach over and ruffle his hair. "It's okay, Sammy. I still love you."

He swats at my hand. "Yeah, yeah, yeah."

I pout. "Now you're just being mean."

He smiles. "Love you too, Kiri."

I roll my eyes and hug him.

It's around 2 when I realize that Mike has yet to wake up.

The phone rings and Sam answers. He then rushes back upstairs to give the phone to Mike.

I walk up and sigh when I hear Sam say, "I don't need a babysitter, Mike."

I lean against the doorframe and listen as Mom talks to Mike about something. He groans quietly and drops the phone from his ear then says, "Okay, Mom."

He hangs up and drops his head back.

Sam wanders out of the room and I move the phone back to Mike's desk before sitting beside him on the bed.

"What happened last night, Mike?"

He sighs. "Hell if I know. It all feels like a fucking dream."

I lay back on the bed next to him and reach up to feel my new accessory. "Well, it wasn't."

He puts his head against my shoulder. "So I really did eat maggots?"

I laugh. "I really have no clue with that, Mike."

Mike makes a disgusted noise and gets up. He sways a bit, but stays upright.

"You and David? What's up with that?"

I smile, following him out of the room. "Dunno. We haven't even figured that out yet."

He nods. "Well, be careful."

I roll my eyes. "As I've said before, Mike, I'm a big girl. I can take care of myself."

He sighs. "I know you can. I just worry."

I smile. "Thanks, Mike. But I'll be okay. I promise."

He walks into my room and collapses on my bed.

"Dude!"

He looks up at me and grins.

I jump on top of him and get comfortable. He groans and I grin.

"So what are we going to do?"

I think for a moment. "Bug Sammy."

He laughs. "Sounds good to me."

I sincerely hope this chapter is up to par with the others. I tried my best, but my classes really have been my number one priority. Also! I try to include images of Kiri's outfit somewhere in the chapter, but sometimes things don't work or I forget to. If you like seeing that sort of stuff, all her outfits will be on my polyvore: truwhitewolf.polyvore.com

Thank you for reading!!!
