*Dracul*

The moment Nathan left the pub, I decided to follow him. Sticking to the shadows I watched as he sprinted across the street to a three-story hotel. My senses so high, I was able to detect the humans working and sleeping within its walls as I listened to the gentle rhythm of Nathan's heart walking up the steps. I studied the building for a moment to familiarize myself with the structure, and to test its overall strength.

Placing my fingers along the wall, I did the same with my foot and crawled up to the window to find Nathan asleep on the bed. He just looked so peaceful laying there that the urge to lay next to him and wake up with him was something that I could only dream of doing at this point. So I silently said goodnight to Nathan before falling back down to the ground and ditching the curtain. The silvery moon illuminated my skin as I realized just how dirty I really was.

My new found sense of strength flowed throughout my body as I took off at a dead run and ran through the Carpathian Mountains. The feeling was exhilarating, my eyes missing nothing until I caught the scent of running water not far from my current position. I ran toward it as I braced myself for the dive that was about to come as I cut through the water like a sword. I stayed there for a while, beneath the surface as I washed my body, appreciating the joy of being alive again.

As I swam to shore, I stopped for a moment and laid on my back as I stared up at the night sky. So many stars, so very beautiful, they blanketed the entire universe. But if I had the power. I would reach up and bring them down and give them to Nathan. Because in my mind, that's how special he is to me. He is my light in a sea of darkness while I, a vampire, a child of the undead, is forced to remain in the shadows for all eternity.

It didn't take long to get back to the city as I walked amongst its empty streets. I could hear everything and feel the air brush across my skin like tiny molecules while the rest of the world laid itself out before me in full vibrant color. In other words, I was a predator and the city was my playground. I thought about Nathan as I walked alone. Listening to his words over and over again in my head as if it were stuck on replay.

How it warmed my dead heart to see him again, after all these years. He had grown from a young child to a fully grown adult male who was now mine for the taking. But there was something off about him that worried me. When I touched his hand, his skin filled my mind with images that made my blood turn cold and my anger rise without warning. I saw him standing in a darkened room not by himself but with another man, a stranger.

This stranger was kissing him! Kissing my Nathan! And he was going to die for having his hands all over my future prince. I studied his face for a bit as I wandered the streets, his voice in my head as he whispered fondly to Nathan. And it was when I reached the city center that I found him coming out of a store. I curled my lips back as my fangs extended and a low hiss slipped through my clenched teeth.

I watched him as he got into a strange contraption and rode off as I quickly followed in hot pursuit. Sticking to the rooftops, I jumped from building to building, using my nose as a tracking device. Until the moment came when my target reached his destination and went inside his house. Luck was on my side as I noticed a window open coming from the bedroom. Closing my eyes, I stood perfectly still as my body broke down and transformed into a thousand bats.

I flew in through the window and returned to my true form as I took a second to remind myself that it was going to take a while to relearn all my powers again. But man what a rush! Multiple voices could be heard coming from downstairs as I slowly descended the stairs and found the stranger in the kitchen making dinner for himself. Too bad it would be his late. Not that he would ever get the chance to eat it.

He wielded a sharp blade in his hand as he began to cut up some vegetables

He wielded a sharp blade in his hand as he began to cut up some vegetables. Let's see how good he actually is when it comes to using it. I came around the corner as I framed myself in the doorway. He jumped as he stared at me with wide eyes.

"Who are you? What are you doing in my house?"

"I am known as many things throughout history. But the word vampire is a good place to start. You see, I just had a lovely conversation with a young man tonight and when I touched him, I noticed that you were kissing him. Care to tell me why your hands were on my mate?"

"Look, man. I don't want any trouble."

"Oh, I'm afraid it's a little too late for that."

The knife in his hand trembled. "I didn't know he was spoken for. It was just a onetime thing. Rather a price to be paid in exchange for some services that involved repairing some creepy old castle just up the road. Castle Dracula, I believe was the place is where he said he lived now."

I stared at the pulsing vein in his neck as my mouth watered. To be able to sink my teeth into him and drink straight from the source filled me with delight. I stepped forward as he took a step back and tightened his grip on the knife.

"You better pray to God, that you know how to use that."

"Please! Don't kill me."

"You touched what is destined to be mine! Nobody touches what is MINE!"

I bared my fangs as I walked toward him. He raised the knife into the air and lashed out as I dodged his attacks while laughing at the same time. What a pathetic human. I grabbed his wrist and twisted it sharply to the right as I heard the bone snap. The knife fell to the ground as he cried out in pain. Then I grabbed him by the front of his shirt as we stood chest to chest. His blood raced like a thousand wild horses as I tilted his head to the side and slowly closed the distance between us.

As my teeth sank into him, my lips formed a tight seal as I drank my fill. Sweet and smokey, his blood coated my throat as he struggled against my grip. A fighter, though I was impressed. To kill him was something I intended to do in the beginning. But what happened next was a change of heart. He soon lost his fight to survive as he melted into my arms and I heard his heart slowly start to fade from within his chest.

Laying him down on the floor. I scarred my wrist as crimson droplets splashed against his bottom lip. I cupped the back of his head as I told him to drink and pushed my wrist against his mouth. His body jolted as his hand came up and held onto my arm as he drank with hunger. I winced slightly, feeling the tug at my own heart as he started taking too much from me. I quickly yanked my wrist free as I got to my feet and watched as the cut healed instantly.

After a few minutes, the stranger opened his eyes again. The change had successfully taken effect. He was now a newborn vampire.

"What? What did you do to me?" He asked, looking around.

"You're a vampire now. Welcome to the dark side."

Author's Note: Hello my lovelies! Hope you enjoyed Chapter Eight. What do you think of the "handsome stranger" now being turned into a vampire? What do you think Dracula has in store for him? Anyways, I'm off to finish eating my slice of apple pie. LOL.
