Deep within the central region of Romania lies a sleepy little town called Transylvania. Known for its mountainous borders, medieval towns and timeless castles lies a force so powerful that not even the most bravest of men will not venture. Castle...

Aidan & Grant
Hot water splashed into the sink before a sink-stop put an end to that and filled with white soapy suds. Dirty dishes lay on the counter as I placed them into the sink and snapped on a pair of rubber gloves. The heat from the water warmed my hands but did not burn while I plunged the small scrubber into the abyss and squeezed hard. A plate, crusty and smeared with the remnants of food, soon became clean again before rinsing it off on the other side and setting it down on a nearby towel.
It was still early that evening, about 7:45 pm to be exact. I was home alone as it would seem. My friends had left shortly after dinner to leave with the rest of the brothers to go see a movie at the local cinema in town. They tried to persuade me but it was no use. I didn't feel like going out tonight. The thought of a nice quiet house and a relaxing bath appealed to me most of all. Looking outside through the kitchen window, I could see the vast empty field that divided our two houses.
The moon shined bright cascading a beam of silvery light onto the small batch of horses that could be seen from a distance. Majestic beasts, everyone of them. My eyes narrowed in on the one standing alone in the center. Sleek, powerful, black as night with a mane that was slick like oil when touched. Black Diamond was his name or so Grant said when he first showed him to be in the stables. A bit of a wildcard, Black Diamond never allowed anyone to touch him other than Grant that is, until he met me.
A dominant stallion unlike his master no less, was cautious of me at first. Pawing at the ground and kick at the sides of the stall. I took a step back and allowed Grant to calm him down. To the left side of the door was a holder used for various treats such as carrots, apple slices, and hay cubes. I grabbed a carrot and walked up behind Grant as he gently stroked the horse's forehead. Snorting, Black Diamond nudged Grant in the shoulder as I slowly withdrew the carrot from behind my back and presented it to him as a gift.
His eyes flared with delight. Pushing past Grant, Black Diamond leaned down and sniffed at the carrot before taking a bite. At this point, I decided to try and pet him again while under the careful guidance of Grant who seemed pleased with the ending results. I stroked his forehead and told him what a good boy he was when suddenly my hand was licked clean. Grant let out a hearty laugh at my expense as he padded Black Diamond on the butt for a job well done.
That was a good day, in fact. But it was even better that same evening when Grant and I shared our first kiss up in the hayloft. Oh, I remember it so well just like it was yesterday. The gentle touch of his lips as they brushed across mine. The scent of his breath as it mingled with my own, causing my heart to skip and stutter. The firmness of his hands as they pulled me in tighter, rummaging through my hair and shirt, making me feel hot. Or the way he caressed my body and molded it to his as I sat on his lap while he laid back against a pile of loose hay.
God, I was an idiot.
Reality set back in as the final dish was rinsed off and placed down on the counter to dry. The sink-stop was removed, the water circling down into the drain as I snapped off the gloves and cleaned up the mess left by my handiwork. Afterwards, I flipped off the light switch in the kitchen and went to the living room. I fell to my knees in front of the hearth as I added wood and few scraps of newspaper before striking the match and setting flame to the fire.
