Nathan
"We need to come up with a plan." I said, storming out of the room.
"And we will. Trust me." Dracula replied, keeping pace. "Nathan."
I stopped, but I didn't turn around. I was too far gone in the mindset to pay attention. A killer was currently making his way through town, right to our very doorstep. I wanted to greet him head on. Besides, I didn't want to seem like a bad hostess. Suddenly a light bulb went off as I quickly made a dash up the stairs and down the corridor to my left opposite our bedroom where our daughter was currently sleeping without a care in the world.
Dracula followed, curious as to my quick thinking as I burst into the armory room. Guns, knives, explosives, grenades and body armor littered each of the four walls while three separate tables contained ammo and even more deadlier weapons. I was like a kid in a candy store staring at all the goodies and the plans I had for them. Then I grabbed a duffel bag off the wall and began filling it up as Dracula tried to get me to speak.
"Nathan. What's going on?"
"What's it look like I'm doing, baby? I'm gearing up for war."
"Yes, I can see that. But why?"
I scoffed as I zipped up the bag and reached for another one. "I'm not going to sit idly by while you're off playing the hero. I'm in this fight just as much as you are. I will protect my daughter, Dracula. No matter the cost."
With both bags filled, I handed one of them to Dracula as we headed back downstairs and walked outside towards one of the cars. I placed the bags in the backseat and gave Dracula a kiss just in time to see the sky change colors. He pulled me into his chest, his hands rest along the small of my back as he groaned and I moaned. The kiss was meaningful yet it had a certain power hunger behind it that made me want more.
Alas, I pulled away and hopped into the driver seat as I started the engine. "Watch out for our daughter. She needs you. And I'll have a headset on in case you need to get in touch."
"I'm not worried about that. You just make sure you come back," he said with a stern voice.
I touched his hand and sighed heavily as I threw the SUV into drive and raced out onto the street, towards the center of town. With the sun rising in the south, darkness was still my only ally left. I reached behind me and found the headset I was looking for as I placed it in my ear and immediately called Nicholas for support on how to arm a set of explosives. He answered right away and not a moment too soon.
"Nicholas, I know that you used to be a cop, and a damn good one. But right now, I need you to tell me how to arm some C4."
"What? Seriously?"
"Dead serious, Nic. I figure I've only got a small amount of time to get everything ready before Dr. Jekyll and his band of merry thugs storm the place."
"Wait. You're not saying..."
I swallowed hard. "I'm playing as bait and using Castle Dracula as a diversion. Now are you going to help me or I am going to have to figure this stuff out on my own?"
"Alright. Alright. Let me pull up the schematics. Just give me a second."
At stoplight nearby, the single access road to Castle Dracula was to my left while the road up ahead led deeper into town. It was here that I noticed multiple engines racing closer until the distance between us was nothing more than a breath of air. The lead car slammed on its brakes as the remaining trucks kept back. I grinned, noticing the man in the front passenger seat. Dr. Jekyll, come to die.
He stepped out, but still kept one foot inside as he spoke across the space between us.
"Nathan. Listen to me, I can help you. I can help your daughter."
