Xander was sleeping on my chest and I was stroking his hair when Lexi softly knocked on the door. I quietly told her to come in and she tip-toed inside the room.
"We're going to the beach. Do you guys want to come with us?" She asked.
"We'll be down there in a minute."
She left and I gently shook Xander awake. He jerked up and accidentally hit me on the chin. His golden hair flew in all directions. His finger brushed over the cut on my chin.
"Oh, I'm sorry," He apologized.
He gently kissed the little cut that had already healed. I waved it off. I barely felt it.
"Do you want to come to the beach with us?" I questioned him.
He nibbled on his lip.
"Well, sure, but I can't swim."
Somehow, that didn't surprise me.
"It's okay. You can lay out on the beach with Lexi or something."
We got dressed on our swim shorts, sandals, sunglasses, and put towels in a bag before going downstairs. Xander had a short sleeved jacket on so that the others couldn't see his scars.
The children were very excited to see that Xander was feeling better and almost knocked him over when they threw themselves at him. We eventually got out the and arrived at the beach. Lexi laid out her towel and put some sunscreen on before settling on her stomach with a book.
Blake took the kids down to the water. I stayed with Xander for a little bit until he pushed me away and motioned for me to go swim. I smiled, but went. The cool water rushing over my limbs melted my stress away. It always had. I loved to do anything outdoorsy.
I looked up a few times to see Xander building misshapen sand castles with the children, mostly so Lexi and Blake could have some time alone. I swam for what felt like hours. I saw that the children were off somewhere else and that Xander had taken off the jacket, but was laying on his stomach, so the others didn't see his burns.
He seemed very relaxed. I tip-toed up the hot sand before jumping on his unsuspecting body. He squealed in surprise and rolled away from me. I brought him closer to me, brushed all the sand off him, and cuddled with him on the beach towel. His head rested against my shoulder and his scorching skin slid against mine.
I fought back the intoxicating arousal starting to infect me. I needed to be with him soon. I had never heard of a wolf waiting this long to claim their mate and honestly had no idea how much longer I would be able to. I would wait as long as he wanted me to, but it was getting more and more difficult.
My head jerked up when I saw Stephanie with a man- Brandon I was assuming. She saw Xander laying next to me and skipped over to us with excitement, dragging a very amused Brandon along with her.
"Xander!" She yelled in delight.
I could see Brandon fighting a smile at her antics. Xander turned his head towards her.
"I have great news!"
He lazily arched an eyebrow. I could feel how utterly content he was and loved that he was content enough to be that way. That horrible image of him fighting me and trying to run from me after his panic attack suddenly filled my mind, but I shook it off.
"We finally have a date for our wedding!" She squealed in happiness.
Brandon's smile grew broader and Xander gave her a cheery one.
