I saw that this dark, wooden house was on fire and that Xander was nowhere to be found, and my heart rate skyrocketed. My anger became even more concentrated when I saw, within the crowd of crazed people, my father shaking my mother around like a damn rag doll. I strode towards them.

I couldn't let him treat her this way. It was absolutely ridiculous. The only thing she had ever done was sacrifice everything for him, for me, cared for us, and he was treating her as if she had murdered someone. I jerked his arm off of her and he stumbled slightly before straightening up and glaring at me.

My mother was looking at me in shock. I had the feeling no one had ever saved her from his wrath before. My father was trying to put all his power behind making me become submissive to him, and it was quite powerful since he was the legal Alpha right now, but I lifted it off of me. I was tired of him treating us like this. It was ridiculous and I was too angry to care about whatever reaction he might have right now.

"Stop being such a stupid, cruel son of a bitch," I growled.

He blinked and then lunged at me, almost biting my throat out. I pushed at him so hard that he went flying across the ground about a hundred feet into the forest. I turned my attention ti my stunned mother when she softly tapped me on the shoulder.

"He cares about you, he just has a bad way of showing it. He was angry because I helped Xander go, but I don't know if he actually left. There was another guy in there, so he might have helped him and he had a broken leg, so I don't think Xander could have made it very far. Ryan went in there and I haven't seen him since."

She shook her head. I was surprised at all this information and angry at the fact that he had a broken leg. If that was what Ryan did to him in a couple of hours, then what else could he have done to him during his childhood?

"Our pack is in a war with another who stole a pregnant mother and said she was one of their mates. Your father is just too damn old and tired for this and you need to take over your position anyway. I know you don't like it, but you can also put someone else in charge after this. The point is, you need to help your people."

" I know you love that boy in there, and you can bring him with you if you want to, but you need to help your pack. If you don't, hundreds of people are going to die. You can't just refuse us this time. You have to help us, Alex."

I knew she was right. I couldn't let that many people die because of my selfishness. I wanted to bring Xander with me, but...I had to find him first. I had to focus on that, though. I didn't even need to go look, however. I gasped in shock when two bloody bodies with glass and a knife embedded in them came flying out of the window of the house.

They slid a hundred feet and would have flown off the cliff if Blake hadn't been over there to stop them. I could tell that one of them was Xander, and I was guessing the other was his step-brother. Xander became unconscious after a few minutes, but Ryan's adrenaline amped him up.

He became even more vicious. I ran over to them just in time to see him pull a knife dripping with Xander's precious blood out of his chest and he almost stabbed him again as he was ranting about killing him, but Blake pulled Ryan up and wrestled him all the way over to the car.

He had told me as soon as we got here that he needed help, so he was going to go to an asylum with much higher security than the one he escaped from earlier. I was a little angry I couldn't hurt him, but I let it go. Xander needed me right now.

I cradled his bleeding body in my arms. Blood and glass was scattered all over him. His knee looked all messed up and his leg was broken. He had multiple little cuts all over his body from the glass, but his wrists were heavily bleeding and I could tell some of the skin had come off.

He looked terrible and pale and like he was about to die. I picked him up and gently made my way over to the truck. Everyone piled inside. This heartache was killing me. I knew what I had to do, I just really didn't want to do it. Lexi gasped at the sight of Xander. I knew she loved him like her own son.

I reached over and whispered into her ear what I was going to do and what I would need her and Blake and the kids to do for me. She glared at me, and looked very, very, very furious, but my mind was made up. I had to do this. I had to. She agreed, even though she looked like she was about ten seconds away from taking my head off.

Heartache was tearing me apart. I loved Xander so much. I couldn't let anyone hurt him like this anymore. I was selfish, but I just couldn't watch it happen anymore. No one would ever hurt him again. It was ironic because I knew that he would hate me for doing this to him, but he didn't understand what it was like on the other side of the mirror.

We finally arrived at the damn hospital. I felt tears burn my eyes as I gently kissed his forehead, brushing some glass and blood away. My lips pressed onto his soft skin, sweeping up and down the flesh. I finally tore myself away. I couldn't torture myself like this. I picked him up as I left the car and then handed him over to Blake, who took him inside. He had seen my expression and knew what was happening.

He was angry because I knew he cared for Xander. He might act like a big, tough guy, but he was a little teddy bear underneath his rough exterior. He had always taken strays in, anyways. I watched as they disappeared into the hospital. Tears were burning the back of my eyes.

"I love you, honey," I softly whispered before turning around and walking away.
