Chapter 33

Lisa's POV
We heard the door knock and I went to answer and it was Christina
"Well hey" I said and she hugged me
"Hey it's been a minute" she said laughing and she walked in
"Where are the kids?" I asked
"They are with Nick, I thought I would stop by after some errands " she said and I nodded and she walked in the living and seen Andrew playing with the kids but Addison was sitting on the couch and she seen Christina and walked towards me and Christina gave me a look
"Who's this?" She asked
"This is Addison" I said and Christina bend down
"Hi Addison, I'm Christina" she said and Addison hid behind me and then I bend down to her level
"Hey Addison, this is my sister Christina, don't be scared" I said and Addison looked at her
"Hi" she said and Christina smiled
"How are old you?" She asked and Addison raised her hand up with 4 fingers
"4! That's awesome" Christina said and we both got up and walked in the kitchen
"How long has she been here?" She asked
"A couple days" I said and I spoked up
"One of Andrew workers found her at the construction site and it was dangerous so he brought her back, and the cops were gonna take her to a group home and Andrew didn't want that" I said and she nodded
"So they haven't heard from her parents" I shrugged
"No, but she's not going back" I said and Christina looked at me
"Why?" She said and I took a breath and took out my phone
"So I gave her a bath the other night, and she took off her shirt and I seen these" I said handing her my phone and she looked at them shocked
"Oh my gosh" she said and handed it back
"Yeah she told me her parents hit her" I said and Christina gave me a look
"That's sad" she said and I nodded
"It really is" I said and she looked at me
"She seems comfortable with you" she said and I nodded
"Yeah but it took a while" I said and she took a breath
"So what are you thinking?" She asked and I just looked at her
"I have a feeling they're not gonna find her a safe place, you know? But right now, she's in a safe place, and she finally getting warmed up to people, and if she goes back to a group home or her parents, all of that is gonna be gone" I said and Christina looked at me and I looked at her
"I haven't talked to Andrew yet, but if they can't find her a safe place, then we're gonna give her a safe place" I said and she smiled
"But it  is amazing, of what you guys are doing" she said and I smiled and we heard the door knock and I heard Ryan yelled
"Mom the police are here" He said and I got up and walked in the living room and seen two cops
"Guys go in the kitchen with Aunt Chrissy okay?" I asked and they listened and went there and Addison stood there scared
"Hey it's okay, go on" I said and she followed behind them
"So what's going on?" I asked
"We reached the parents" they said and I took a breath
"And?" I said and they looked at me
"They want her back, we searched they're clean, no drugs, we can't say no" they said
"It's not safe there for her" I said and they looked at me weird
"What do you mean?" They asked and I spoked up
"If you send her back there, then she gonna be a punching bag" I said
"The parents hit her" Andrew spoked up and I got my phone out and showed them pictures of her back
"Now you know those can't be accidental" I said and they looked at each other
"She's right, we can't take her back there" one of the cops said
"But we would really hate to keep her here with you guys" one of them said and I spoked up
"Actually, I prefer her to be here because I know she's safe" I said and they nodded
"Well there is really no other family members, both parents have no siblings and grandparents are gone" the cop said
"She can stay here til something gets figured out" Andrew said and shook their hands
"Thank you for your time guys" they said and walked away and we shut the door and I looked at Andrew
"She needs a safe place Andrew" I said and he nodded his head
"I know she does" he said
"But I don't want her in the system, she doesn't deserve to go from house to house" I said and he looked at me which I know he understand because he didn't get adopted til he was 10
"What are you saying?" He asked
"Why not make her permanent home here"
