Hadrian sat at the table.

He looked at Merek sitting across him. Charles fiddled with his fingers. The snow fell heavily, chilling the windows. " We need more wood for heat. Charles, go and grab it." Merek ordered gruffly. Charles grumbled before slipping on his tall top hat and coat then preceding on leaving. " Merek, how come this community doesn't go to High Counsel and say something?"

" How come the officers on the street didn't notice us?" Merek replied back. His voice was harsh but questioning.

Hadrian went silent.

Charles returned moments later with wood in his hands. " Hey, why does it seem that those two officers out there are always looking at us? And are closer?" Merek and Hadrian stood walking to the window. Indeed Charles was right. The two bulldogs stood standing. Their eyes expressionless but staring almost at the house. Their coats were frosted in snow.

Hadrian looked to Merek.

" We are but prey to them, be alert." Merek then walked away.

Hadrian turned their gaze now burned into his mind. Charles growled.
