Chapter Eleven

June 3rd, 1943

Dan laughed loudly as Phil jumped into the small lake off a rope. Phil splashed and swam to the top of the water.

"Your turn!" Phil said as he flicked his now longer hair from his face. The two felt like the past month had been a dream. Dan woke up everyday to remembering the night before with Phil and the dream started all over again. Dan shook his head, smiling still and watching his naked boyfriend from his spot on shore. Phil swam towards him slowly and Dan grinned.

"Alright!" Dan finally let in after Phil's staring. He shook his head as he pulled his boxers down his skinny legs and walked over to the rope that Phil put up off a huge tree. He stepped up some rocks and jumped off, feeling himself being flung forward and he let go. His body hit the cold water and he held his breath.

"See, you did it." Phil grinned as Dan surfaced to the top. Dan nodded and swam over to him.

"S'cold though," Dan pouted and Phil rolled his eyes, grabbing ahold of Dan and pulling him close.

"You have me so it'll be okay." Phil said and Dan let himself rest against Phil's shoulder. He kissed his neck lightly and sighed.

"Phil, why'd you bring us out here?" Dan asked. He had refused asking because he didn't wanna seem like he didn't like it here. Phil looked down at him and pushed his curly hair from
his lovers forehead.

"Thought we could use a nice little summer holiday," Phil lied and Dan stared at him, not believing him at all. "Okay, fine," Phil sighed. "My friend was suspicious of us, and I didn't want him coming after us and ratting us out." Phil told the truth and Dan felt even colder.

"Oh," he took a shaky breath.

Phil shook his head, "But we're okay, he'll forget about us and I've told people I had gone back home and you'd gone back home too." Phil said and Dan nodded along with him.

"And I'm always home when I'm with you," Dan said and Phil blushed, squeezing Dan's sides and leaning in to kiss him.
