Kaspar looked down.
"Let's go. If we're planning to stand here forever, we'll soon freeze, that I'm sure of."
A shot was heard.
Hugging.
Falling.
A squeal.
"That was epic."
"You know, it was also dangerous."
"Can't deny," Kaspar laughed. "But seriously, didn't you enjoy it one single bit?"
Baylee shook her head.
"You're boring."
The girl laughed.
"No, I'm not!"
"You are. The brightest example of boringness," Kaspar giggled, avoiding a snowball. "And by the way, I used to be champion in snowballs. I played alone, though."
"Well, now you have a rival. A worthy one, for your information."
"We'll see," Kaspar aimed a snowball. Baylee dodged.
"God," the boy smirked. "Let's see if you'll be as good with bullets."
"Let's not experiment right now."
Kaspar laughed.
"No, we will."
"We won't!"
"Of course not, we'll go do what we have been planning to do for... around an hour. A.K.A., find our fighters."
"They're gonna be hard to find."
Kaspar nodded.
"Anyways, it's not like we're here to play. Come on."
The two walked away.
A laugh.
Footsteps.
Someone slipping.
More laughter, now louder.
"Here is someone..."
Baylee hid under a window.
Another shot.
The sound of breaking glass.
The window was crushed.
"Hurry, they could have shot you! Are your reflexes fine?"
"Yes, yes, they are! Stop annoying me and come on!"
They ran.
Falling into the snow.
Finally, another window. It was carelessly open; it looked as if nobody was inside.
"Come in!"
Baylee climbed into the window.
"We can stay here 'til the bombing ends."
Kaspar was breathing heavily. Baylee smiled.
"You're choking."
"I know, that's normal."
"So okay, then."
He sat down.
"Pray that they won't get us here."
"They won't. This is enough trouble for today."
"For our whole lives."
Baylee cracked up.
"For everyone."
"Everyone is safe in the Passages. We're the only losers who are here in the cold in the middle of what looks like an epic battle."
