"Here," I gave him hot chocolate after he got comfortable on the couch.

He was looking at my science homework. More like messing up its order.

"What are you doing?" I said, taking it all from him in exchange for his hot chocolate.

I put the papers on the table and took the cushion beside him. It was quiet for a while with only the sound of the TV playing. I wasn't feeling as happy as I expected to be. I actually felt like a fall back. Like something happened last minute and I was the last option. Then I figured I should check on the girls, so I got up and went into the game room, where I found them sleeping on the beanbag chairs. I picked up Lea and brought her upstairs to my room. I laid her down on my bead and tucked her in. Then I went back down stairs for Mae. On the way upstairs, I saw Miles' jacket on the banister. I picked it up as I went upstairs, planning to throw it on my chair in my room. I got to the top of the stairs and heard something small fall behind me. Considering my options, I could turn around and get it and let Mae fall out of my arms and potentially die.......OR I could keep her alive, tuck her in, and check out the mystery falling object when I'm on my way downstairs. Yea, let's do that. And that's what I did.

Oh it's just candy- I thought.

I picked it up. It had a flower on the surface.

"What kind of candy is this?"

I sniffed it. It smelled like plastic. Like something that was made in China. I went back into the living room with it in between my thumb and index finger.

"Hey, what kind of candy is this? It smells...weird."

When Miles saw me he didn't look surprised at all. He looked at the 'candy' then at me like i was stupid. I was getting a bit worried 'cause I didn't want to jump to conclusions about what this thing really was and what it was doing in my house. My parents would kill me if they knew what I didn't want it to be. He sipped his hot chocolate, still looking at me.

"Miles," my voice trembled, "Miles, what is this?"

He didn't say anything.

"Are you mute? I asked you a question! If this is what I think it is...." I brought my voice down to a whisper, "Miles...what...is this?"

"Try it," he said.

I sped to my room and searched his coat pockets. From one of his pockets on the outside of his jacket I pulled out a tiny zip lock bag full of the same kinds; different pictures on them.

"Holy God," I said.

I went back downstairs into the living room, taking the bag of 'candy' with me.

"What the hell, Miles."

He looked up at me like he was lost.

"What?"

"Is this ecstasy!?"

"No."

"Don't lie to me!"

"It's not ecstasy--"

"THEN WHAT IS IT?!"

"They're Mollies."

I paused.

"Mollies. The drug. Mollies."

He nodded.

"This is crazy," I whispered under my breath.

"How so?"

"You brought drugs in my house!"

"They're not even bad. Try it."
