I left before he did, and reached home at 1:00 pm. As soon as I got through the door, I noticed my brother walking out of the kitchen in the direction of the stair case with a rice crispie bar in his hand, and some in his mouth. He was distracted by his phone at first, but then, for some reason looked up straight at me.

I just stood there like I did nothing wrong. Even though I didn't do anything wrong.... Did I?

He stopped walking...looked down...and started walking up the stairs.

"Don't even bother with an explanation." He said. "Ms. Thompson already called this morning."

I watched him walk up the stairs, and didn't say a word.

"Oh." I mumbled.

So, I'm good.- I thought.

I took off my shoes and walked upstairs, to my room. I opened my door, and saw my mom laying on my bed...staring at the ceiling.

"Umm..hi." I said, while taking off my jacket.

"Hello." She said.

"What you doing..?"

"Thinking."

"....About what?" I said, in an awkward voice.

Why is she in my room?- I thought.

"I think I'm a push over. What do you think?"

"Why did you come to that conclusion?"

"My coworkers."

"....I'm lost."

"It was story time--"

"Wait a second...story time??"

"That's what we do on our lunch break. We share stories; everyone calls it story time so that's what it is."

"Oh."

"They think I'm a pushover."

"I don't know how to really answer that, so I'm just gonna go.."

I was turning to make my escape, when I saw her sit up.

"Things are gonna change around here." She said.

I paused; then turned back around.

"In what way?"

"I'm not gonna be a push over anymore."

"Umm..okay?"

"Starting with this room. It needs to clean so...get to it."

"My room is already clean. It's always clean."

"Then...do your chores."

"Done."

I leaned on my dresser.

"Take out the garbage."

"Jordan's job, and it's done."

"This is gonna be harder than I thought." She said. "Well, what can I say? I have perfect children."

Is she gonna be leaving my room anytime now?- I thought.

"Anyways, I'll leave you to your perfect room." She said.

"Okay...?"

She took her time getting up, and let herself out.

Mom doesn't usually get mad; but when she does, it's not really a good outcome for everyone else. I'm kinda scared for what she has in mind.
