My parents, hugging each other, and Thomas standing next to them.
"Well well Jan, you came back." Thomas smiles.
"What have you done?" I snarl.
"Oh nothing much. Turned your parents into vampires. Saw you come back." Thomas says.
A deep, rumbling growl erupts from my throat.
"Jan..." My dad groans.
"Dad. You'll be fine." I assure him.
"He might but you won't. Your mother has already given in." Thomas laughs.
I realise why my dad is hugging my mum. She's jeering randomly and seems thirsty.
I know why.
"Now if only your dad was to give in." Thomas says.
"You monster!" I snarl.
"So are you." Thomas hisses. We snarl and hiss as I step closer and closer into the house.
"Don't! Stop! He's probably set a trap!" The dragon warns.
To late!
Thomas pulls some string and two things happen.
The first is that the door behind me closes and locks itself.
The next is that electricity comes from somewhere and narrowly misses me. I duck and roll forward, only then realising my mistake.
"Hahaha! Your trapped with a bunch of vampires!" Thomas laughs.
"We have a way to be safe. Do what your magic book said, try and remove the vampire from your parents!" The dragon says.
"What? It's a fictional book!" I retort.
"It isn't. You have enough magic potential to do this one thing. Try." The dragon says.
"Oh all right."
My mum gets up and drags my dad with her. She slowly walks towards me.
I thrust my hand out to her, as of signalling her to stop. Thomas thinks this is what I'm doing, but in my head I'm willing for two parts of my parents to split.
And just when I thought I was done for, it happens!
My hand glows a bit and my parents do to. Then a ghostly figure of a human with all the vampire parts appears to leave their bodies, then settles near Thomas and forms into solid creatures. I grab both my parents and despite being really tired I throw them to the porch, the safe place.
Now all I have left is three vampires to deal with.
Then my parents, who are so exhausted that they just lying on the floor, mouths open, but still alive. I look at the vampires.
"I see. Very clever. But that won't do you much good." Thomas says. He throws something so fast that I don't have time to react. Especially once I've depleted myself.
A small knife burrows itself into my arm. I scream in pain and drop to the ground. Blood starts to leak through the wound and stains everything it touches red. I look up at the looming threat, Thomas and the two vampires that are closing in. I grab the knife and pull it out, screaming again. More blood leaks from the wound and collects on the floor. I throw the knife at one of the vampires but it's hit away. I shift and get up, still weak. I breath some fire at the vampires but it's so weak I doubt it could set a dry leaf on fire. The vampire nearest to me rakes it's claws across my body and I roar in pain. More blood leaves my body and joins the rest of it on the floor. I strike back but I barely do any damage. I get weaker and weaker and fall to the floor. Thomas has commanded the vampires to stop, and blood is just leaking from my wounds. I look up at Thomas who is walling to me.
"Well well, what have we here? A dragon that is defeated. I guess saving your parents was a bad choice wasn't it. And to bad it will go to waste." Thomas says.
Suddenly a bunch of flames engulf the two rogue vampires. I turn my head to where the fire came from and see two dragons in the porch. My parents bodies are gone. My blood is also on the floor where they were.
I piece two and two together and realise what happened.
Now Thomas has lost his confidence. He runs behind a couch and ducks behind it. He probably pieced two and two together and realised that the houses furniture is probably the safest place at this moment.
"Are you okay?" One of the dragons asks. It has a male sounding voice so I'm sure it's dad.
"I've seen better days." I groan.
"Not much longer. Another 15 minutes and you'll be fine." The dragon says.
Thank goodness I can heal faster than normal.
"Let me go see about Thomas." My mum says.
"No, wait. He might have a source of electricity on him. It's too dangerous." I say.
A pause.
"Your right." My dad says.
"How do you know?" My mum asks.
"Haven't you heard it? Your inner dragon? It tells you everything." Me dad replies.
"Oh I thought that was the vampire." My mum says.
"No the vampires gone. You burnt them." I tell them.
"Yes I see now." My mum says.
I see Thomas poke his head from behind the couch and sneer,"Oh look a family of dragons. It could have been a family of vampires but you chose the bigger species. How hard human life is going to be for you."
"Is-is he telling the truth?" My mum asks.
"Partly. For you it will be easy mixing with humans, I should think. For me it is too difficult." I say.
"I suppose we'll never find out while like this." My dad says.
"But how for we..." My mum starts.
"Think of your human self." I tell her.
Soon I'm the only dragon in the house.
"No difference." My dad says.
"Well your eyes are green but that's about it." My mum says.
"Same as yours."
