"Now's the time for the decision, will we let him go? I let him go. He was forced by a vampire to infect others." The lion says.
"I let him go." The bird says.
"As do I." The snake says.
"I will grudgingly let him go." The wolf sighs.
"I let him go, but he'll need a source of blood to stop him going crazy." The dragon says.
He...
He was let go.
"Wait! First, we shall extend our invitation to Jan. Jan, will you join the shifter protection force, and if so, will you let Thomas go?" The lion says.
What!
What?
Did they just?
Should I?
I mean I have nothing better to do so...
And...
"Yes, I'll join the shifter protection force and yes I'll let Thomas go, not because of him being my friend but because it wasn't him running the cogs." My dragon forces me to say.
"Really?" I tell it.
"You were heading there anyway. I just sped it up." My dragon retorts.
Okay fine.
"Great!" The Lion says.
What did my dragon do?
"Now Thomas, we extend the same offer to you. Will you join the shifter protection force?" The lion asks.
Wait.
What!?
Him to?
He's not even a shifter!
I'm not even a shifter!
Or a proper one anyway.

"So what do you, uh, we do?" I ask the lion. We are walking down a corridor to my new room. Thomas has been given a new room as well. He's is like a normal humans room, not decorated in any vampire fashion.
"We try and protect the humans from any threats possible. We save lives and stop many catastrophes. You sometimes hear about an animal saving someone's life and it's usually us. There are rogue shifters but they do very little. But no evil shifters, yet." The lion tells me. Incase your wondering, I am still in dragon form. I was given this little chip to be swallowed and it's on my vocal cords, speaking English for me.

We reach a metal door and the lion opens it, well pushes it open and leads me inside. I look around my new home. It's...
My old home.
No seriously it is my old home. Everything is there how I left it. I even go to the mouth of the cave and see the exact same landscape.
"As you can see we linked our base to your residence. We did this the moment you started to grab our attention. The door is camouflaged so that if any humans find it they won't go far. If you need anyone go down the corridor." The lion tells me before leaving through the same door and shutting it with his tail. They door does have a handle. On both sides by the looks of things.
I sigh and settle down on my cave floor. So much has happened in the past 24 hours. It's crazy!
The past 24 hours have been filled with moments you don't normally see in books. I stare out at the sunset that is in perfect view of my cave.
"Did I realise this when choosing the cliff?" I wonder. The sun gets lower and lower in the sky until all you can see is the night. I feel my eyes start to get heavy and give way.
I fall into a dreamless sleep.

The sun forces me to open my eyes and take a look at my home. There are random birds all over the cave. But the moment I get up the birds decide to fly away. Except for one, the bird shifter.
"Good morning." The bird says.
"Morning." I reply.
"Just to let you know, if there is an emergency at night a bird shifter will be sent your way." The bird tells me.
"Okay thanks." I say.
The bird flies off with the other ones. I realise that I'm hungry and poke my head out of the cave. There is a zebra just underneath the cave, if I'm fast enough I'll be able to get it.
But something at the corner of my eye makes me retreat back into the cave.
Humans!
What are they doing here?
