I remember the first time I met her...

My manager at the time thought it would be a good idea to release an album since people liked my singing. I decided to go along with it. We found a record company who welcomed us and loved my work already. The first song we decided to record was slower, but has an interesting story.

"Oh Zen there you are!" cried the producer as she ran over to me. I had gotten a water bottle down the hall from the vending machine. "We want you to meet the pianist working with you on this piece. She has a few questions on how you want it played so it works well on both ends."

"Where is she?" As soon as I asked, a girl was running down the hall with a file of paper in her hand. She looked exhausted and not that well, but she's also kinda cute.

"(Y/N)! You're late again," the producer sighs. "Oh well too late for complaining. Zen this is (Y/N) she's working with you on the piece. She knows around here, so she can find you two a place to talk." The producer lady excused herself and left us two alone.

"Pleasure to meet you Zen. Let's go to a recording room down the hall. There's a piano in there for me to use." I nodded and followed (Y/N) down the hall.

"Have you worked with other people before?" I asked. She turned around as she opened the door.

"Yeah! Normally it's not as big as this piece is. It's just in the background there. Your song is relying on mainly piano. An extremely rare opportunity. I like composing my own things though as well." I looked at her expression while she talked. She looks a lot more perky when talking about piano. She must really like it.

We entered the room, and (Y/N) sat at the piano. I pulled up a chair from the desk. She took a breath and played the piece. I sat there mesmerized. The way she played it and how it was played is so beautiful. I can't keep my eyes off of her. She finished the song and looked up.

"So how was that?" she asked nervously after. I looked up with the same shocked expression on my face.

"That was beautiful! More beautiful then I could be." She sighed.

"Narcissistic comment there. Please do not tell me your like that often."

"Well, while there are times when I will be like that it's not often though." I laughed. "You might be a bit more beautiful then myself though." I winked and she blushed.

"T-Thanks Zen. Can you play?"

"Well, I can play, but I rather not typically. I have a question for you though." She looked at me and tilted her head. "Why do you play for recordings like mine. I mean you're good enough to go solo."

She laughed and replied, "Well, I just enjoy being able to just use my talents to help others with their talent. I don't like being front and center either. Why I played in the start is a long story."

"We have time."

"Well it was a source of comfort as a child. I was very shy as a kid and got picked on for being alone so much. Then I played the cello. My dad made me a robot out of it. For years I had to do nothing but perfect myself. He wanted me to go to competitions just for the ones with money prize. I was a pawn."

I looked at her shocked. "Oh my god that is terrible. But then you still play music now?"

"I quit in high school. I wanted my grades to stay up, and I realized what was happening. I found a way to run off to my mom's house out in Korea. I'm actually from France technically. My mom had to move here for a job and my dad didn't approve and got in fights. She accepted me here though and helped me out. Her job here was for a family business."

"After I got settled back into a as normal as I can be life, I felt like something was missing. I missed music but never wanted to touch a cello again, so I got introduced to piano. That's why I'm here. I felt like I could tell a story with it and learned it right away. I grew quickly and here I am now."

I smiled as she finished her story. "That's a really crazy story. Mine is something I've never been comfortable sharing with anyone. Maybe one day if I see you again though." I sent a smile in her direction.

"That could be possible." She smiled back at me.

There was a knock on the door and we both turned. The producer came back in.

"Zen we need you in the recording studio to talk about a few things. (Y/N), keep practicing. You have a recording session tomorrow for this." She nodded and I got up.

"Well it was nice meeting you (Y/N). Hopefully we can talk more at another time." I handed her my business card and smiled. She looked at me shocked as I walked out the room. That's where it all started.
