Distant memories that seem like dreams
entertain us well into our adulthood
Remembering lemonade stands
with sliced lemons on the table
and a growing piles of
empty lemon flavored kool-aid packs
hidden underneath
remind us of our childhood
Everything was picture-perfect
when we were one
We were sounding out childhood together
and pulling each other along,
leaving no time for falling.
We dove headfirst
into all of our firsts.
Some together,
like first bike rides and first stitches
And some without the other,
like our first kisses
They were not the best we ever had
Still, I cherish them all
and I wonder if you do too
