Realizing you have feelings for your best friend is really a strange feeling. Like in one single thought everything changes and let me tell you, it's not one of those super romantic epiphanies that people get where everything suddenly makes sense and you've found your purpose in life. No...it's pretty damn confusing.
Firstly you wonder how you didn't realize this before and secondly you wonder what happens now. Do things get awkward? Will everything be obvious and will he know exactly how I feel because let's face it, he does know me better than I know myself.
"Emma!" Hailey shouts.
"What?" I shout.
"You didn't hear a word I said did you?"
"Of course I didn't! I mean how am I supposed to after realizing something like this? I'm so confused and I can't even go talk to my best friend because hey he's the source of it all!"
"Calm down Em."
"I will not calm down! I don't know what to do!"
"Just do what you've been doing."
"How am I supposed to do that when every time I look at Cody I'll be thinking about how much I like him?"
"I don't know."
"You don't know?! You're the one with all the questions! The one who knows everything yet you don't know how to help me or what I should do! I am seriously going to kill you tomorrow Hailey...I swear!"
"Why are you going to kill Hailey?" I hear Cody ask and I gape before dropping my phone.
"You scared me half to death! What are you doing here?" I ask.
"Oh I just came by to invite you over tomorrow. For dinner...my mom's orders."
"Oh okay. Thanks. I'll see you tomorrow then," I answer and he raises an eyebrow.
"Are you chasing me home? I mean it's not even 8:30 yet."
"Oh right. No come in...sit down. I just need to end this call with Hailey."
"Okay."
"Look Hailey I'll talk to you tomorrow okay."
"Okay. Enjoy your time with lov-" she starts before I hang up.
"That was rude," Cody tells me.
"Yeah well she deserved it."
"She did?"
"Yeah...she uh...won't give back my lucky bra," I blurt.
"Oh...well I understand then. That's unforgivable," Cody teases and I glare at him.
Okay maybe this whole acting normal thing won't be too hard I mean it seems to be working so far. Even if he won't stop smiling his adorable smile. I can handle that though. Just don't look into his eyes Emma. Not the eyes.
"Em?" he asks before pinching my cheek. So much for not looking into his eyes.
"Uh yeah?"
"You kind of spaced out."
"Oh right. Sorry," I say and Cody laughs.
"Okay...obviously you're tired so I'll just go home and see you tomorrow."
"Okay. Goodnight."
"Night Emma," he sends before sending me a smile that used to be completely normal yet now it makes my heart skip a beat.
I am seriously going to kill Hailey Cooper tomorrow.
********************
"Hey Lauren...your hair's looking...uh curly," Hailey says at lunch and the look on Lauren's face almost makes me not want to kill Hailey anymore.
