"Are you telling me that Jake and Suzanne did all this to my daughter?" my mom asks in a shrill voice.
"Uh..." Leah awkwardly says.
"That is completely unacceptable! Where can I find her mother's email address because someone is in for a strongly worded email? Better yet I should schedule a meeting with the principal!" my mom exclaims.
"Mom! Relax! It's okay," I say trying to calm her down.
"It certainly is not! She deserves to get in trouble for what she did!"
"Mom I'm serious. It's okay."
"Yeah Mrs Parker. You should've seen the way Emma reacted and what she said. Suzanne is definitely going to stay away from her for a long time," Hailey explains. My mom doesn't look convinced but doesn't say anything else.
"Would you like to see some pictures?" I ask in order to distract her. Judging by her huge smile I'd say it works.
"I got Cody to take some on my phone," I inform her while taking my phone out and opening the pictures.
"Wow. Leah your dress is stunning. It was absolutely perfect for you. You too Hailey. I cannot believe how grown up you girls are. It seems like just yesterday you girls were starting high school. Now look at you, you're beautiful young ladies," my mom says wiping a tear from her eyes.
Hailey, Leah and I exchange glances as she excuses herself before walking towards the kitchen. My mom is really way too dramatic.
"Riiiight... so now that your mom's gone give us the unedited version of last night!" Leah exclaims.
"Well... what would you like to know?" I ask.
"Tell us what happened in your own words from when you walked into the gym!" she practically shouts.
"Really Leah. Who else's words would she use?" Hailey wants to know.
"Uh... well Cody and I walked in and I saw Suzanne and it took me a while to realize, and when I did, I guess I felt really stupid but I kind of forgot about it when Cody forced me to dance with him. But then Suzanne had to add fuel to the fire since I wasn't crying my eyes out in front of everyone."
"Suzanne is such a witch!" Hailey exclaims.
"Then what happened?" Leah asks.
"Weren't you guys there?" I want to know.
"Yeah... we arrived before Suzanne's stupid monologue. Your speech was brilliant though," Hailey answers.
"Thanks I guess. She was just being silly, trying to get me mad and stuff."
"And through all this what did Jake do?" Hailey wants to know.
"Absolutely nothing. He didn't smile and he didn't say a word. He just stood next to Suzanne with his arm around her," I explain.
"I cannot believe that Jake Roberts did this! It's not fair! How could he have done something like this?" Leah cries out.
"He's stupid and stupid people do stupid things," I tell them, quoting what Cody said last night.
"But he's Jake and he's beautiful. I can't believe he broke my heart like that!" Leah cries and Hailey and I just look at each other, not knowing what to make of this.
"It's going to be okay," Hailey says awkwardly patting Leah's back. Leah lets out a long sigh before looking at me and smiling.
"You know what! Screw guys! Em, you and I should totally go out!" she exclaims before thowing her arms around me.
