"Just what do you think you're doing?" a very angry voice asks just before I throw another fistful of spaghetti at Cody.
I stop dead and turn to look at who I'm guessing to be Lauren's father.
"Sir...we're very-"
"I don't care about apologies I want you all out of my restaurant right now. I'll give you guys a few minutes to clean up but when I get back I want you guys out!" he shouts and I look over to Lauren who looks like she's about to cry.
Lauren's dad sends her a dissappointed look before walking away. Practically everyone in the restaurant is looking at us by this point.
"Are you happy now Emma? You embarrassed me and my family!" Lauren shouts.
"Oh right...everything is entirely my fault," I reply.
"You spilled your water on Cody! You started it! I can't believe how pathetic you are!" she shouts and I find myself unable to reply.
"Lauren!" Cody shouts.
"What?"
"Just leave Emma alone," he tells her.
"Are you kidding me?" Lauren screeches.
"Tyler, I'm sorry, but could you please take Lauren home?" Cody asks and Tyler nods.
Lauren lets out an annoyed groan before stomping off towards the parking lot. Tyler follows without even a glance at me. I wouldn't have either if I was in his position. Cody and I just watch as they both walk away.
"I thought I told you to leave," we hear someone say and we don't even turn around before practically sprinting out of the restaurant.
I take out my phone and call my dad to come pick us up and thankfully he doesn't ask any questions. When I'm down I sit down next to Cody on the side of the road. We sit in dead silence until I can't take it anymore.
"That was uh...eventful," I say and Cody lets out a snort.
He doesn't say anything and we just look at each other. His shirt is full of spaghetti sauce and I see a few odd pieces of spaghetti. His hair is sticky from the salad dressing I poured over it and I managed to spill my water on the front of his pants so it looks like he wet himself. Suddenly I realize the hilarity of the situation and I burst out laughing. Cody must come to his own realization because he starts laughing too.
"So I think it's safe to say double dates are not our thing," he says in between his laughter.
"I have to agree with that. What happened back there was probably the most ridiculous thing we have ever done and that is really saying a lot," I reply.
"I cannot believe you actually poured salad dressing over my head!"
"So? You threw butternut at me!"
"Look at me? I am full of spaghetti sauce!"
"Well I have spinach in my hair!" I exclaim before we burst out laughing again.
"So you accidentally spilled water on me?" he asks in an amused tone.
"It actually was an accident. I promise," I say in the most serious voice I've used all evening.
"I'm sorry for pouring the water over your head then...I kind of assumed you'd done it on purpose."
"Why would I have purposefully spilt my water on you?" I ask.
"Beats me," he says before scratching the back of his head so I know he's lying but I don't make a big deal out of it.
"So I think it's safe to say our dates are pretty mad at us," I say with a sigh.
