CODY'S POV
I sit watching Emma twirl around the stage looking so graceful and I can't help but smile at how damn beautiful she is.
I will never understand how Suzanne could ever have thought that she was a better dancer than Emma because I may not know that much about ballet but I do know that Emma is an amazing dancer. And I'm not just saying it because of how much I love her.
After all this time I still sit in awe as she's lifted into the air, making it look like it's the easiest thing in the world but I know that she's always been terrified of heights.
I sit completely still as the final dance rolls around which she dances absolutely perfectly. I watch her move around the stage perfectly and suddenly the memory of us as 7 year olds, dancing at a wedding, fills my mind and I find myself smiling. Even then I knew how perfect she was for me. The ballet ends and they receive a well deserved standing ovation.
I watch myself stand up with a bunch of roses and start walking towards the stage before I press pause.
"Okay baby look there, that's me going to give your mommy roses," I explain to my daughter.
"Cody...she's 6 months old. She has no idea what you're saying. She's probably fast asleep," Emma tells me as she walks over to where we're sitting.
She sits down next to me and I smile up at her, my wife.
We've been married for two years and I still can't get over the fact that I get to call her that.
"You're staring at me again," she says.
"I always stare at you," I tell her and she laughs.
"I know. So why are we watching my old ballet video?" she asks.
"We decided to reminisce."
"We?"
"Yes we."
"So you and Becca decided to reminisce. A 6 month old Becca."
"That's what I said," I tell her with a grin.
"Good to know that our daughter's a genius."
"Well she did inherit her mother's brains."
"Thank goodness for that."
"And hopefully her mother's beauty too," I say and she tries her best not to but her face breaks out into a huge smile.
"She is definitely her mother's daughter," Emma says sending Becca a happy look.
"Definitely."
"But she does have your eyes and if I'm not mistaken the hair on her head it bright blonde isn't is?"
"It is," I tell her and she smiles like she always does when we talk about about Becca.
"So since the ballet put her to sleep I think we should put her down. It is time for her nap anyway," she says reaching out to take her from me and I happyily hand her over because as beautiful as Emma looked when she was dancing in sleeping beauty, she's never looked better than she does when she's holding our daughter.
When she returns she sits down and cuddles up to me making me smile.
"So guess what day it is?" I say.
"Uh Saturday..." she answers.
"And you know what that means!"
"I thought we outgrew this."
"One does not simply outgrow chick flick Saturdays," I tell her and as usual she rolls her eyes.
"I always knew you loved them more than me," she says and I just grin in response.
I get up from the couch and set the movie up. I press play and she groans when she realizes what movie I've picked.
10 things I hate about you.
"Why should I expect anything different from you?" she asks and I just chuckle before getting back on the couch and laying my head on her lap.
I look up her and she's smiling the a smile she only uses when she's remembering something. It takes me a while but I eventually realize what.
"Are you actually going to watch the movie this time or are you just going to stare at me again?"
"I'm probably going to stare you," she tells me with a grin.
"I love you," I tell her before sitting up and turning towards her.
"I love you too," she tells me and when I kiss her the spark I felt the first time we kissed is still there and knowing the two of us, it probably always will be.
