"I can't believe we're actually early today!" I exclaim as Cody walks with me to my locker. "See. It does pay off to wake up earlier."
"I didn't wake up earlier. I was woken up earlier. By you, my mom and Camille jumping on my bed," he grumbles and I laugh.
"But look. We actually have enough time to go to our lockers this morning instead of running like we usually do. And you even had a full breakfast! Isn't it amazing?" I ask and he just rolls his eyes as I stare at my lock. Damn. What was the combination again?
"28-37-46. Please don't do it again though. It was pretty frightening."
"You know what else was frightening? Your hair! It looked like a crow's nest," I tell him as I open my locker and take out my books.
Cody just rolls his eyes. "And why would I care what my hair looks like?"
"You're such a lost cause Cody," I tell him closing my locker door.
"Why? Just because I don't wash my hair twice, condition and blow dry it every 3 days? Just feel my hair Em. Its way softer than yours," he says and I cross my arms because he is absolutely right. He does have the soft hair that I've always wanted. "What? Got nothing to say now?"
"It's not fair," is the only thing I can think of to say.
"Life isn't fair sometimes," he says putting an arm around me and leading me down the passage.
"My best friend has better hair than me. And he's a guy," I complain and Cody chuckles.
"Well my mom loves you more than me so I guess we're even."
"Okay," I say with a smile as we walk towards our next class.
"By the way she wants you to come over for dinner sometime this week. Then I asked what we're having and she goes who said you're invited!" he exclaims and I burst out laughing. "Can you believe it? My own mother."
"If it's any consolation my mom loves you too. Not more than she loves me though," I tease and he rolls his eyes.
"I'm just gonna go to class before you make me cry," he says turning away from me and walks down the passage towards his class.
"At least you'll always have nice hair!" I call out as he turns the corner and I hear him laugh.
"See you later!" he calls back as the bell rings.

"Em! Emma! EMMA!" Leah shouts running down the passage, almost knocking into people.
"Calm down Leah! You're going to hurt someone." I call out but she carries on running until she reaches me. "You. Will. Not. Believe. What. Happened," she tells me, out of breath.
"Uhm...okay. What happened?" I ask nervously.
Instead of answering she grabs my hand and pulls me toward the bathroom. Once we're inside she still doesn't explain.
"Uh...did Mr Grant retire?" I ask and she shakes her head.
"Is Taylor Lautner here?" Again she shakes her head.
"You won lots of money?"
"No!" she shouts before jumping up and down.
"Just tell me already!" I exclaim getting slightly annoyed.
"Jake Roberts spoke to me! He said actual words. And sentences Em! I had a conversation with the Jake Roberts. I- he-" she babbles before losing her breath.
I stand looking at her in complete shock as she starts hyperventilating. The door opens and in walks Hailey sighing when she sees us.
"And now?" Hailey asks.
