"We are not doing that," I say with a straight face.
"Oh come on. Everyone thinks we're dating already," Cody replies with a smirk.
"They do not!" I argue even though I know he's telling the truth.
"You do know that I can tell when you're lying," he says moving closer to me.
"Pffffft no."
"Em," he says, our foreheads almost touching.
"What?"
"Come on," he says before pecking me on the lips.
"Fine," I say and he laughs because he knows the effect he has on me.
"Good," he says before grabbing my hand and pulling me through the parking lot.
"I hate being the centre of attention."
"Says the girl who's starred in countless ballet productions."
"That's different."
"How is that different."
"People don't whisper things about you and ask personal questions. They just watch you dance and clap politely. And if you're lucky you get a bunch of roses," I say before sending him a smile.
"Clearly that was a hint."
"I have no idea what you're talking about."
"I always give you roses."
"A single rose."
"It's better than nothing."
"Remind me why I agreed to be your girlfriend?"
"Because you love me," he says sending me a grin causing me to roll my eyes but mentally I'm giggling.
We're almost near my locker when I realize we're actually inside the school building already. Cody did a really good job of distracting me.
"See nobody's staring. And would it matter if they did?" he asks.
"No it wouldn't," I say with another eye roll.
"I swear your eyes are going to disappear with all that eye rolling."
"It would be entirely your fault."
"Oh it would?" he asks with a raised eyebrow.
"It would because I can't help but roll my eyes at all your smartass comments," I tell him.
Cody laughs before kissing me again. Apparently he's big on PDA. Not that I mind.
"Oh my gosh!" someone screeches and I open my eyes to see Hailey and Leah practically sprinting towards us.
"I told you this was a bad idea," I scold but Cody just chuckles.
"The bell's going to ring soon so I think we should head to class," he tells me before grabbing my hand and pulling me in the other direction.
Behind us I hear Leah and Hailey calling us but I'm too busy laughing to answer.
********************
"I swear you two are going to be the death of me," Hailey tells us after she finishes grilling us at lunch.
"You're worse than my mother," Cody says.
"And my mother," I add.
"And Camille," Cody says.
"Not worse than my dad though," I say with a grimace.
