Chapter 1: Hardknock Life

“Class Dismissed!” I yelled to a class of students.

“Mr.Groven can I ask you something?” asked Stacy, my star student.

“Sure what is it?”

“She wants to ask you how to be less of a nerd.” Said Todd aka the class clown.

I scolded him “Todd go home!”

Todd said, “Oh okay, but I’ll deal with little miss teacher’s pet tomorrow.”

“Shut up dumbass!” Stacy said angrily.

I stop them from nearly fighting.

"Hey you two stop it alright!” I say.

“I’ll talk to you tomorrow Mr. Groven.” Stacy said.

“I’ll see you two tomorrow. Remember to do your homework and behave.”

Todd and Stacy leaves and I spend the next two hours grading papers. Suddenly, I felt like how I did when I started this. A loser.

I said to myself“Come on Nate don’t you want something great to happen to you?”

I sighed and continued grading papers. I had a job that I didn’t like and didn’t pay much. I wanted a better life than I have now. At about seven o’clock, I packed up my things to go home.

On my way out I am stopped by Ms. Lovett in the hallway. She’s a math teacher like me. She’s what I call “one fine lady.” With her beautiful hazel eyes and long brown hair that flows in the right without trying.

“Hello Mr. Groven, I need to ask you something.” She said.

“Yes, what is it?” I asked.

She stepped closer and handed me a piece of paper with my phone number on it.

“I think this belongs to you.” she said.

“Oh I’m sorry Ms. Lovett it must have been one of my students. They like to play pranks on me.” I said smiling like and idiot.

“I’ll see you on Monday.” I said “Bye.”

I walked to my car and start to drive.
