Mark got off the plane and collected his luggage before going outside the airport and looking for his dad. He must have been waiting 20 minutes before his dad actually showed up, red faced and gasping for air. Obviously he had forgotten about me, Mark thought to himself.
Their greeting was less than comfortable, his dad tried to look excited, but Mark could tell that what his dad was really feeling was a mixture of exhaustion and the feeling of actually being responsible for someone other than himself. They shared a brisk and awkward hug, and an even more awkward car journey home. His dad said no words, not other than the common questions; 'how was your flight', 'are you excited for your new school?'. That kind of stuff. Otherwise a silence hung over them, and Mark began to wonder if he should have stayed put in his hometown, moved in with Arin or something.
It was too late to think of that though, he was here. Mark's dad helped him unpack and move furniture and what-not into the spare room...Mark's room. The house wasn't anything huge, it had two small bedrooms, a smaller than average kitchen, a living room and two toilets, one upstairs and one downstairs. Mark's dad must live alone, he had wondered if maybe he had found someone else after he left his mother, but the house was cramped and untidy and there was a strong smell of double malt whiskey in every room that Mark went into. His own room was cosy though. It was very small, just enough to fit a single bed, a chest of drawers and a desk, but not much else. They had set up Wi-Fi and he had a large screen TV on the small table at the foot of his bed, and he managed to get all of his books and games on the bookshelf built into the wall, despite it being a struggle.
He arrived at the house two weeks before school started again, and he could tell his dad was really trying to make him feel at home. They'd have dinner every night after his dad got home from work, and talk about anything that wasn't their family. Mark really appreciated the attempts his dad was making, but he still spent most of his time in his room, playing video games or reading. His two weeks went by uneventful for the most part. For that Mark was very thankful.

A/N Hello again peoples!! I know that was quite a short and boring chapter, but I felt I should at least take the time to introduce Mark's dad.
I don't think he'll really have a big part in this story (Sorry Mr. Fischbach) but he's there for Mark and not a bad guy haha...
Anyway that's it, hopefully the next chapter will be a little longer, but until then, thank you guys for reading up to this point!
