⌠ 1 ⌡

I could

still hear our laughter

ringing in my ears

as we headed down from the roof.

Slippery stairs

and bloody noses.

 But something feels different.

Almost exhilarating.

Like the clouds above

are

just a bit

lighter.

The feeling

of being free.

As if the world

opened up.

As long

as we're still here.

And keep going.

Sometimes,

I wasn't able to move.

I limited my steps

to places that didn't scare me.

But to face

the things I don't want to.

Things I don't understand.

That's when

I feel

like

I'm actually living.

⌠ 2 ⌡

How brightly

Ai smiled.

Me and Takeshi,

stumbling through the door

to the old clubroom.

She was waiting for us,

dabbing at our bruises,

smacking our heads.

Calling us idiots.

It hurt,

just a bit.

Lodged deep

in my chest.

But she's happy.

And her gaze,

spilling over us.

That gentle look.

How could I not

let

it tug

on my lips?

⌠ 3 ⌡

For some reason

we can't stop laughing.

The sound rings

off the walls.

It's so strange.

But it feels good.

Like my body's loose.

My head floats.

Ai cracks a stupid joke.

Takeshi tries to hide a smile.

I just watch.

So this is it...

I couldn't name it,

not exactly.

What I was feeling

here and now.

But even

as Ai warms her hands against the rusty heater,

even as Takeshi makes fun of my messed up hair.

Even though something

in me knew

this wouldn't last.

I don't mind.
