I sit down at my usual spot after school.
It's a corner in the library
next to two tall windows.
A tiny nook
that I'd found right after transferring in.
Today,
the afternoon light filters through the curtains,
catching the dust.
Warms the table.
I can barely hide my smile
as I pull my novel out from my bag.
There isn't a cloud in sight.
The air is dry like paper.
Sunlight drenches the sky.
But she's here.
Sitting across from me.
And it isn't raining.
------
Those lazy afternoons
in the library.
I thought they might last forever.
But that summer...
We imagined that happiness might feel like this.
