⌠ 1 ⌡
Every so often,
the sound of rain
echoes through our
familiar stillness.
Her bangs tumble
over her eyes again.
For a moment,
it feels like we're back
to those dreamlike
days.
That vignette.
Then,
the doors groan open.
Rusted hinges,
scraping at imperfection.
Footsteps
and
laughter.
The silence gave way
to the world again.
Two silhouettes in the doorway.
⌠ 2 ⌡
Sugawa, hair dripping,
rain still clinging to her sleeves.
"Yura!" she waves.
Behind her, Takeshi.
That careless smirk of his,
untouched by the weather.
"Told you they'd be here."
Yura blinks. "Of course it's you two."
"We were drowning out there!"
Sugawa laughs.
"Takeshi forgot his umbrella."
"Where's yours?" he retorts.
"Hm."
Their chatter bounces off shelves,
almost too loud
for this sacred place.
I shut my book.
Watching them,
a rhythm I can't understand.
Intruders,
but a welcome surprise.
⌠ 3 ⌡
They shake rain
from their hair and clothes
like dust.
"Didn't expect you to find us," Yura says,
half smiling, half caught off guard.
Sugawa sits at the table,
playing with her bracelet.
