"Where'd Tempest and Levi go?" Armin asked, sitting down.

Hanji chuckled, waving it off, "They're probably just tired from today."

Naomi sighed, while Axel and Alastair just quietly sat there.

"If you guys aren't going to speak up, then I will." Naomi finally said.

"They shouldn't know. It would ruin their viewpoint of the two." Axel protested.

"Then how do we explain their absence? You know it's not like her to miss dinner."

"What do you mean?" Eren questioned.

"Well you see..." Naomi started.

"Hanji should explain." Alastair murmured. They nodded in agreement.

"All right. I suppose." Hanji said, keeping back a smile. "You see, all of us go back a long ways. We used to sit around the dining hall like you are now."

"Get to the point." Axel muttered impatiently, "I'd like to get at least an hour more sleep than I usually do."

"Yes, yes. Of course." Hanji nodded, "This was when Tempest has the lightest blonde hair anyone could ever imagine. Even lighter than Alastair's."

"Wait, then why's it red? Did she dye it or something?" Armin interrupted.

"Shush, Armin. She's going to tell us." Mikasa quieted Armin.

"The answer to your question is simple. She killed so many Titans, that the blood that she soaked in stayed rooted in her hair, even though Titan blood evaporates. I don't know if you've ever heard, but her kills are in the four-hundreds."

Their eyes widened, while the others just rolled their eyes.

"Anyways, after a tragic accident including Levi's friends during their first expedition, she took him under her wing. At first, they were like cat-and-dog, always trying to pick a fight with each other. When Levi was forced to join, he was rebellious as ever."

Mikasa, Armin, and Eren tried to picture a young, rebellious Levi, but what came to mind was the clean freak. They shuddered.

Hanji laughed, "Unimaginable, right? She made Levi wake up at 3:00 A.M., and train until dinner time. However, it wasn't as bad as her Trials. You should really congratulate Naomi, Alastair, and Axel. They've been through hell."

The recruits looked at them, confused.

"No. Just, no. Don't ever ask about the Trials. It included fire, spikes, and a six hundred mile run in the most arid place in the world. We had to sign a waive just to try it once. If you wanted to be on Tempest's team, then you have to go through hell first." Axel exaggerated.

"Oh, it wasn't six hundred. Maybe like, forty." Hanji shrugged, "But the rest is true. Back to the original story. Everyday, she'd drag Levi out of bed by the ear and throw him into the forest. They'd practice their 3DMG, flying through hoops and slicing moving targets. They worked on how to disable a Titan quick enough to the point where it's down in the blink of an eye. She fixed every flaw of Levi, but the one thing that she focused on were his emotions. Wonder why he's such an ass? It's because that's how he controls it. She taught him how to do that, how to put a mask on his face. Of course Tempest didn't have to do it, although she put it to use. Because she trained with him everyday, they obviously grew closer." Hanji put up two fingers, "And closer.." She brought them together slightly, "And closer," ever so slightly, "And eventually... BAM!" Hanji smashed the two fingers together. "And that's how Tempest and Levi got together. That, and she basically saved him from himself."
