Amy POV-

My arms shook in anger as I hugged her. Lily. My best friend. Her face burried itself into the crook of my neck. Every sob that echoed from her body felt like a shard of glass slicing itself through my soul.

Her cries dialed down, and her body shuddered as an after effect of crying her heart out. I pushed her blonde hair out of her face, and brushed the tears off her face with the pad of my thumb. I whispered,

"Lily? What happened?"

She tried to put on a smile and replied,

"It's nothing, Ames. It was just them again."

I felt my hands tense up just at the mention of them. Them. The people that had been relentlessly bullying my best friend. Who could be so stupid that they would bully the most perfect human being in the world? Lily slightly smiled and said,

"I'm good Ames. Nothing to get worked up about. Please don't pull a Lisa and beat someone up."

She gently pulled away from my grip and looked in the mirror. Her mascara was smudged, her hair was frizzy, and her face was blotchy. She let out a shaky laugh and said,

"Wow, I look horrible."

I wiped away some mascara and said,

"Lily, you're the most beautiful person I know. Inside and out."

She rolled her eyes playfully at my cheesy words. We slumped down on the couch. I took the remote, and began to mindlessly switch the channels. I landed on a movie, and began to watch it. Lily rolled her eyes once again at my choice of a sappy love movie.

I began staring intently at the screen, my heart starting to beat faster as the climax of the movie played on. I tore my eyes away from the screen to see Lily's reaction. Her eyes were closed, and she was biting her lip so hard that I was afraid that there would be drops of blood oozing out.

I lowered the volume on the TV and tapped Lily. She opened her eyes and looked at me in fear as she noticed I was looking at her. She tucked her phone under her arm, as if she didn't want me to see. I looked at her in warning and pried her phone from her fingers.

I glanced at the screen, and saw that Lily was on a Twitter page. The username was @lilyhaterMGHS. I shivered, even though there was no breeze. MGHS was our school. I browsed through the posts.

"I heard Lily was mistaken for a hippo at the zoo last week. Why am I not surprised?"
"Lily the lesbian. Has a nice ring to that."
"LMFAO did u see Lily drooling over Amy Cimorelli today??"
"Like Amy would ever fall for her"
"She needs to kill herself"
"I'll hand her the blade myself."

I shook in anger and disbelief. What is wrong with people? I focused my attention on Lily, who had a steady flow of salty tears cascading down her face. I tried to pull her into a hug, but she pushed away. She whimpered,

"Well, now you know. I have a big ass crush on you, but you don't like me. Now you know how much of a pathetic loser I am. I understand if you don't wanna be my friend anymore. I'll leave now. Bye, Ames. It was nice while it lasted."

Lily got off the couch, but I pushed her back down. I pressed my lips firmly against hers, smiling when she gasped. I wrapped my hands around her waist, and pulled her closer. The salty taste of her tears lingered in my mouth as I reluctantly pulled away. I said,

"You really believe that I don't like you?"

I giggled as she opened and closed her mouth, unable to form coherent words. I giggled again and leaned forward, pressing my lips against hers once again. She laughed and pulled away. She stared right into my eyes and said,

"How was I so lucky to find a girl like you?"

This was a short but sweet one. Hope you liked it:)
