Amber had left about an hour ago to go on her date with Jake, leaving me in this empty, silent house all alone.
Maybe I should text Jason? I thought to myself. I picked up my phone and scrolled through the contacts til I pulled up on his name.
To: Jason
Message: Hey
I sent the message and slid it into my hoodie pocket. Hoodies and pajama pants have been what my weekends are made up of. Just hanging around in hoodies without a care in the world. Not having to worry about dressing up or putting on makeup all for some boy who wouldn't even notice. I reached into my desk and pulled out my headphones and plugged them into my phone and clicked shuffle, then I turned on my laptop. Once I got everything set up I started typing. Not much of anything really just my feelings, thoughts, and just a bunch of nothing. My phone buzzed in my pocket signaling I had a message. I pulled it out probably a little bit too anxious to see who it was.
From: Jason
Message: Hey whats up?
I inhaled and smiled. He had texted me back! Uh not that I liked him..but you know how it is when any guy texts you...kind of that heart-stopping oh my god he's thinking about me moment.
To: Jason
Message: Nothing much just hanging around my room you?
I sent the message and went back to typing. Then I heard the front door shut. Confused, I got up and looked out at the window.
Huh, dad's home? I thought to myself, walking out of my room and down the stairs.
"Hey baby girl whats up?" He said happily. I mentally cringed at the nickname. It's something that he and my mom used to call me.
"Nothing much, why are you home so early?" I asked confused at why he sounded so happy. He hasn't been this happy since...well...since mom died.
"Oh just decided to take a day and spend it with my girl! What do you want to do? We can do anything! Go out for ice cream, go swimming, anything you like." He said hugging me. Okay, something was seriously up with him.
"Dad I'm not 12 anymore." I said smiling a little hugging him back.
"Well you know, our team plays at 7:00 tonight so why don't you go throw on your jersey and we can throw some burgers on the grill and watch the game like old times?" I smiled. We had been calling the Miami Marlins "Our Team" ever since I was 4, and able to grasp the concept of baseball.
"That sounds like a great idea dad." I said kissing his cheek. I looked over at the clock checking the time. 5:45. Good, I had just to find my clothes, change and get back down here and make sure he doesn't burn down the place trying to cook. My dad, isn't the best cook in the world. Lets just say he's the man who can burn tomato soup, and let me tell you that takes real skill. I hurried upstairs and pulled open my closet doors searching for my shorts and one of my Marlins Jerseys. I swear my closet consisted of hoodies, baseball apparel and Beatles t-shirts. I used to run around the house singing Beatles songs and my mom would laugh and say "Baby girl you were born in the wrong century I swear." I smiled and the memory while I ruffled through my closet. I finally found my favorite jersey and a pair of shorts. I slipped off my hoodie revealing my white tank top. Then I heard a loud thud. I looked down to find I left my phone in my pocket. I bent over to grab it and just as I grabbed it, it vibrated, indicating I had another message. I screamed accidentally throwing it across the room.
