"Dad we won't be gone long!" I reassured him, fastening the strap on my shoes.
"I know.." He trailed off.
Ever since the police came, talked to me, and basically reliving that horrid night, dad's been keeping me on a really tight leash. He barely even let me go the pregnancy group the past two weeks! Last weekend Jason invited me over to his house to have dinner and just get to know his parents more. I met them a little over a month ago, but today we had decided was going to be the day that we tell Jason's parents about me being pregnant. Obviously emphasizing the fact that I didn't plan this and Jason wasn't a part of it.
Jason told me he was going to pick me up at 5:00pm. As the clock hand in the dining room slowly inched towards 5 I felt my body begin to tremble. What if they don't like me anymore? What if this means they don't want me and Jason together? I thought, working myself up.
Before I knew it, the doorbell had rung. I stood from my spot on the stairs and looked back at my dad, who looked deeply concerned, but still wore a smile.
I opened the door and let Jason come in. He stepped in and kissed my cheek. "Good Evening Mr.Caraway."
My dad chuckled, "You can seriously call me Jim!" He insisted, shaking Jason's hand for what seemed like an overly awkward amount of time. I smoothed out my white sundress with my hands carefully.
"We won't be gone terribly long. What time shall I have her home by?" He asked politely.
My dad thought for a moment, weighing the options. He knows just as well as I do that Jason is an amazing guy.
"Bring her home no later than 11:30" he said smiling at us both.
I nodded and smiled.
"Dad tonight's the night we're going to tell his parents.." I said in a serious voice.
"Oh." He said, still smiling.
"Well, I'm sure it will be a shock, but after all is set and done, I'm sure they'll be proud of you for keeping the baby just like I am. " He said confidently.
Jason smiled at me and rubbed his hand along the small of my back. "It'll be okay Scar."
We said our goodbyes and headed out for the car.
We both got in and Jason immediately kissed my lips. My eyes were wide with shock for just a half a second, then finally closed, taking in the warmth, love, and passion of the kiss.
He pulled away and rested his forehead against mine gently. "I love you Scarlet Rose Caraway." I blushed at the sound of him saying my full name. "I love you too.." I whispered kissing him gently. He pulled back and started the car. We started driving towards the exit to my subdivision when I asked him, "Whats your middle name?" He dips his head low to avoid my gaze, "Carter." He mumbles clearly blushing.
I gasped, throwing him off guard. "That's so cute!!" I nearly screamed.
"Thank you.." He said quietly.
I giggled and leaned over and kissed his cheek.
"Hey hey hey no distracting the driver!" He said making me laugh.
"Fine! But you're getting it later!" I said smirking.
"Oh I can't wait for that!" He joked back.
This is something I truly love about our relationship. We can joke around, and tease each other, but it doesn't get hurtful. We both know we're just joking around and we love each other. I glanced over at Jason and watched him for a moment. His green eyes focused on the road, his tanned muscular arms stretched out, his hands grasping the wheel, his jawline just at the perfect spot, his brown hair tousled about in a way that looks messy and sexy at the same time.
