I didn't know what to do, or say, so I just laid there under Jason, the warmth radiating off of his body.
He stood up quickly and stuck out his hand for Amber to shake.
"You must be Amber, I've heard a lot about you. I'm Jason." He said politely. I admired how polite he could be even in this awkward situation.
"I wish I could say the same about you!" She scoffed and disregarded his hand looking straight at me. I could feel the tension in the air thicken as she continued, "So Scar when were you planning on telling me you had a boyfriend?"
"Well actually, today." I admitted.
"Oh is that so?" She replied back, the anger dripping from her every word.
"I'm sorry I kept it from you. to be fair it only happened just last night. If you would give me some time to explain why I haven't been around you'd understand why-" She cut me off with her harsh words, "Save it Scar. You've changed. You shut yourself off from the world, from everyone." She looked over at Jason and then back at me, "Okay apparently not everyone." Jason stood there looking attentive, ready to break this up if it got worse. "What are you scared of Scarlet? Why did you stop talking to me, what are you hiding? What are you so afraid of?" By now she was full out yelling.
"I'm pregnant."
Shock filled her eyes and her body stiffened.
"Scarlet..." She looked back at Jason for a moment.
"No, it wasn't Jason." I said, realizing what she was getting at.
Confusion rocked through her body as her eyes squinted at me. It took her no less than 3 seconds to realize who had done it.
"No..." She started off walking towards me. All I could do was nod. She wrapped her arms around me and kept whispering no over and over again. "Oh Scarlet...I'm so sorry...how could he..." She said, her head pressed into my hair. She backed away, tears in her eyes and she looked at me and said "Are you for sure?"
I nodded again and whispered "I took the test yesterday and I'm going to contact a doctor to schedule an appointment to make sure it's actually happening, and if it is..." I trailed off pausing to think for a moment, "Then I'll go through with the birth and give this baby the most amazing life I possibly can." Amber and Jason both looked at me with smiles on their faces. Jason was the first to break the silence. "I'm so proud of you Scarlet." He said hugging me close. It felt amazing to be in his arms again. In the midst of our hug my dad walks in the door.
"Oh what a nice surprise, hi Amber, hi Jason." He took a closer look at Amber. "Sweetheart have you been crying?" He asked with sympathy.
Amber looked at me for my approval and I nodded. "Scar she just told me everything" She trailed off looking at me and back at my dad.
"I think she's doing the right thing." He said smiling looking back at me. I shrugged and said, "Well, this baby deserves it no matter what the circumstance."
"Wait." Amber cut in. "What about Nick? What happens to him? Who's gonna be the baby's daddy?"
"Well," I started, "My dad's looking into criminal record and filing law suit and that sort of thing with the whole Nick thing, and as for the baby's dad.." I trailed off. I didn't really know who would be the dad. Who would want to be with me knowing I already have brought a child into the world. I was brought back to reality when I felt the sudden warmth of Jason's hand on my back. "Only time will tell." He said looking down at me. I could feel myself blushing.
Dad broke the silence saying, "No matter what we're here for each other." We all smiled and nodded in agreement.
"Hey Scar, I've gotta go home and get ready for my date with Jake. I'll talk to you later, you hang in there okay kid?" She came over to me and hugged me. "Love you girl." I smiled and replied back, "I love you too."
After she had left Jason and I went upstairs. I grabbed my laptop as he crawled behind me and started rubbing my back. He kissed the back of my head and mumbled something.
"What was that?" I giggled at him while my fingers grazed the keyboard as fast as they could, desperately trying to find the contact information for Dr. Miller.
"I said I love you." He said kissing my neck. Warmth flooded my body as his lips gently touched my neck. My body shuddered at this as I turned my head just the slightest bit so my lips could meet his. Our lips collided and he pushed into me, the kiss filled with passion and need. I pulled away slightly and mumbled "Geez can't get anything done without being attacked by your lips." I joked. A few minutes passed as I looked for Dr. Millers email when I turned back to Jason and said, "I didn't say I didn't like it..." I smirked sexily. His grin deepened as his lips met mine once more. In all the movies the kissing couple has to always pull apart to take a huge breath. Jason and I don't do this, our lips never break contact. He was the one who backed away this time saying, "I don't mind it all that much either." I laughed as I continued my search. I finally found it and pulled up my email. "What should I type...?" I asked Jason, my fingers dancing over the keyboard, my mind going blank.
"Just tell her the cold hard truth. Well, maybe not just yet. Tell her your name, cell number, and she'll obviously have your email."
I typed and typed, retyping sentence after sentece, not knowing how to put things. I finally settled with this:
Dear Dr. Miller,
Hi, I am Scarlet Caraway. I'm 17 years old and I live in Fort Meyers, Florida, about 15 minutes from your office. I was wondering when I could schedule an appointment? Whatever the soonest time slot you have is would be wonderful. Thank you so much.

"Sounds good" Jason said, reading the letter over my shoulder. I sighed and pressed the send button. I set my laptop back down on my desk and wiggled into Jason's arms. He kissed the side of my head and rocked me back and forth. Silence filled the room. But it wasn't an awkward silence. It was a comfortable one. He was right here with me, and we don't always need words. Sometimes just our silence is comforting. He was the one to break the silence, and my thoughts, saying "You know I'm never going to leave you Scarlet. I loved you before you got pregnant, and I love you just the same, if not more now. Nothing will ever change that." My body loosened into his and I sighed, "Oh Jason, you don't know how much that means to me. Thank you so much."
"Don't thank me blue eyes, there's no need."
"What do you mean there's no need to thank you of course there is."
"No there isn't. I should be thanking you, for letting me into your life, and for letting me love you, and for you loving me back."
"Jas-"
He cut me off by saying "You don't need to thank me for saying that. It's just the truth."
"But"
"Kiss me."
"What?" I questioned.
"Kiss me Scarlet Rose Caraway."
Before I could even close my mouth from talking he pushed his lips into mine. My mouth closed as his lips worked their magic. The taste of his warm bittersweet breath and mint gum filled my mouth. He pulled back and pecked my lips several times gently. I giggled and his caressed my cheek with his hand. He laid down and I laid down beside him, his arms still wrapped around me. I could feel the rise and fall of his chest against me as he quietly began humming Wanted. My eyes closed and I slowly fell asleep to the beat of his heart.
